Correction: As any northern New Yorker will tell you, the dogs come from Hofmann's Sausage company and while they are great at Heid's, you can buy them at any supermarket in the north country. Most of us NYers grew up on them.

No special recipe. These are Hofmann's German franks. One recipe although they come in different sizes. Claiming a special recipe is the biggest lie in the hot dog business. It is done, but not nearly as much as it's claimed.

It is a special recipe but not just for Heid's. It was at one time but Hoffmann's started mass producing their unique hot dogs and you can buy them anywhere in central or northern NY.
