What a heartbreaking film. The author is talking about his own feelings towards his ancestry and religion and trying to reconcile them.

I watched the movie before reading the script this time, while talking to my family, and this joke came to me early on. It definitely helps to have other people to riff with 😄

It is mixed. Quite funny by his genuine jokes and additional commentary as he narrates, but its so chilling due to its background music.
