I know I am 4 years late hehe but still I have a question. Why do countries with pegged exchange rate system have capital restrictions? If a a country (with hypothetical currency ABC) has pegged its currency with HKD (Hong Kong) then how is ABC value determined with USD? Also does the increase in demand for ABC (which is pegged against HKD) in USA Influence its price?
