What percentage of your time is spent on sales and service delivery?

Thanks a ton for the video. For the first year almost 90% focused on marketing and understood its wrong method and now major focusing is on sales and building networking

One more valuable video. Great job and thank you! How about making a video with the tools and apps you may use/have used or suggest, to help small-medium consulting firms to deliver improved projects, streamline internal procedures etc. Maybe a document management system, an accounting software, a project management tool, marketing apps etc.?

Depending on the stage of growth of your business, this is more or less relevant. No tools or apps are required in the start up phase. It's not that complicated. Just start with a 'standard' accounting tool. No need to over complicate things. Focus on sales and service delivery till you hit 7 figures. Then start to document your processes better and standardise processes. It's only then that the volume of work and transactions need 'tools'. Systems and processes are not where the money is............. 90% of your success in starting and growing a consulting business is your hands on ability to sell and deliver services. Don't get distracted with apps and tools. They merely make a good manual process easier to manage.

Too Good ! Sir what's some crucial books to read on b2b sales, direct outreach, attracting clients, finding unique selling point etc as beginner in service based business online or as beginner consultant ? Also apart frm sales which factors or skills could massively help to become successful..

Without wishing to avoid the question, what you are asking is a huge question. I have spent the last 40 years learning it and am still learning. I would suggest getting a job with a consulting firm to learn the basics. Fastest way to learn! I've probably spent $500,000 in the last 15 years on coaching and mentoring programs to improve my business and personal skills. Most of it was a waste of money. Most who teach this stuff, can't do it for real. A much better way to learn, is to work for a successful consulting business in your niche! That way what you learn is 100% relevant.

Dear Rob, thanks once again for another great piece of advice. We are in that dilemma on time management since we are still a two-people consulting firm. Most of our time is consumed by proposal writing, that is, bidding for new consulting work, and we are seeing that we need to catch up on our delivery timelines. It's time we put our processes in place. What would you suggest to me?

Focus on where the money is. Doing the work. And maybe 30% on sales.
