Great explanation Manas. In my case I have a shaft positioned vertically with 2 disks fixed to it and a motor at the top that drives the whole system. I want to apply all the concepts of strength of materials. How should I approach my case, given that all the examples that there are are for horizontal shafts. Thank you in advance.

Sir, one doubt I have. Torque creates twisting. Now if there is twisting how can the shaft rotate? Because to rotate, there cannot be any resistence from the other end.
