Manatee Park in Fort Myers Florida is a refuge for the Florida Manatee in the winter months (December - February). Manatees need warm water to survive, and when the Gulf temperature drops below 68F some of them make their way into this park. This park in particular attracts the manatees due to the warm water discharge canal coming from the power plant across the street.
In addition to manatee viewing this park also offers education about manatees and native Florida plants. There are nature walks, mangrove trees, butterfly gardens, and kayak rentals available too!
One of the other nice things about Manatee Park is that admission is free! There is a small fee to park, either by the hour or for a whole day.
