No that was 1990/91 the year ManUtd won the CupWinnersCup. I know because he basically scored 20 his header vs Barca in the CWC final was goal bound but MarkHughes nicked it. Then Hughes scored another to win the game 2-1. Hughes finished on 21 Bruce 19 should've been joint top scorers. Both huge players for ManUtd though.

Titans match. 2 of the best teams in the country. But don't you find it funny that only 2 outfield players for both sides played for England? They say they didn't have the players at the time. But you look at the performance is Steve Bruce and Viv Anderson put in. Chris Waddle who was the player of the season. Wednesday probably had the best strike Force in the league. I think Hirst, Bright and Warhurst scored nearly 60 goals between them that season... which is insane. Really is. It was something like Hirst was on 16 goals despite being injured for half of the season. Bright was on 21 goals. And Warhurst was on 18 goals I think... that's An insane radio for 3 strikers at the same club. Don't recall Paul Parker playing for England... what happened there? Taylor seemed to be picking players from Nottingham Forest who got relegated that season...

In the United starting XI, four players played for England: Lee Sharpe, Gary Pallister, Paul Ince and Paul Parker (who was part of the Italia '90 squad, Germany's goal in the semi deflected off him). Bryan Robson came off the bench, who was an England regular for many years, and the unused sub - Mike Phelan - had a single England cap. In terms of the Wednesday team, can agree Chris Waddle deserved a recall during that season, but Viv Anderson was nearly 37 at the time. Paul Warhurst and David Hirst didn't play in this game - their starting strikers that day, Nigel Jemson and Gordon Watson, were a long way short of international standard even by Taylor's standards. Carlton Palmer got a fair few England caps, though, to put him alongside Waddle, Anderson and Woods - plus Roland Nilsson, Nigel Worthington, John Sheridan and Danny Wilson represented their countries many times.

United didn’t win the title that day, they topped the table. They won the title three weeks later (May 2nd) when Aston Villa lost to Oldham 1-0 with one game to play and four points behind United. Which meant mathematically United have won the title.
