As someone who loves learning and preserving cultures from around the world, it always saddens me when languages die out (as well as alphabets/scripts), so I truly hope with all my heart that the elders and the local provincial governments are able to invest time and money to teach the younger generation. It does piss me off that many times the younger generation (and I myself would be included as part of that) just doesn't care about learning the language of their ancestors, I wish they would see beyond the "practicality" of the language, its not just that, the way they SHOULD perceive it is about preserving a huge aspect of their cultural heritage. Even if that means the only people they can speak it with will be with others in their small community, why look at it like that, with time it expand as more numbers learn it, and if they don't learn it, then the language will die out forever. Besides, why not have the best of both worlds, be bi-lingual, in this case they would know Mandarin and Manchu, and there are many other cases of this around the world, the Irish would know Irish and English, the Berber communities would know the various Berber languages and Arabic, and many more. Bi-lingual instead of just one language, its a win-win.

all is not lost. the Xibe language is a dialect of Manchu, and is healthy with many thousands of native speakers. that said, Manchu is still a valuable language given its rich history. it's especially important for historians who study the Qing dynasty, since many primary sources from that period are only in Manchu.

My father is Manchurian, from Hulunbuir. My mother is from Mongolia, and i do experience a bit of both cultures. I learned basic words in Manchu when i was younger, like Sain no (Hello) and baniha (Thank you). It is quite easy since Manchurian and Mongolian are somewhat similar. I definitely notice that Mongolian culture is much more dominant and 'alive' than the Manchu language and culture, in basically everything, the festivals in Mongolia are more traditional than Manchu, which has basically assimilated into Han Chinese culture. I personally think that the next generation of Manchurians will be Han Chinese, Manchurians and its culture will be forgotten and eaten by the 'hungry chinese assimilation dragon'. And unfortunately the Manchu language isn't receiving any too little support, as Manchurians are seen very negatively in Mongolia and Mongolian culture, despite being similar. I hope that the language can be preserved, but these things die overtime, it is natural.

Manchurians in China and overseas can setup a fund (endowment) dedicating to Manchurian language teaching, language school, and to support the teachers' living (wages) lifelong. The fund should take annual supports from donors and should be well managed and transparent. Sad to see our ancestors' language dying. Wish to donate a few hundred US dollars on yearly basis if there is such an fund or organization. If many who identify them as a Manchurian are willing to donate a little bit, our ancestors' language can be saved.

@Harishan Veerangan Mandarin and Manchu are totally different languages and not part of the same language family. Mandarin was a dialect spoken by everyone in the capital Beijing which is why Manchus gradually lost their ability to speak Manchu and just spoke Mandarin like everyone else in the city. Plus Mandarin was already the preferred dialect of the imperial court since the Ming, it's not related to Manchu at all. So everyone who have Manchu blood (even mixed) should speak Manchu. Let's just Han Chinese speaks Mandarin, Manchu speaks Manchu.
