I've only experienced the audiobook while lying down. Now every so often, I'll be going through my day and the scene with the wookie would just pop into my head and I'm like "Damn, that actually happened"

I remember roughly when this book came out and I thought the concept was dumb (also I was a massive scardey cat when I was younger and was very afraid of horror stuff) As I became more of a horror fan I then decided to listen to the audiobook and this is actually one of my favorite Star Wars and Horror stories. Definitely one of the darker Star Wars stories not just with the zombies but also with the characters mainly being Empire affiliated or Prisoners and the whole concept of the Empire experimenting with Biological research is truly messed up. Its spooky, it doesn't hold back on the blood and gore as well (which is a major plus for me) and its fantastic. Also the audiobook is extremely well done and while the Death Troopers story itself isn't canon anymore, the actual Blackwing virus is now in the canon thanks to a Star Wars mobile game having a mission involving zombies as a result of the Blackwing virus/The Sickness.

I loved this book!!!! I loved the gore, the action and even the idea that its canon! I adore it. I read this book cover to cover and I started a new tradition to read it on my kindle every Halloween

@@DjangoFett33 well ...I'm kinda a few steps ahead of you. I followed along to the audiobook while I read it the first time. The person who gave it to me as a gift told me to. And boy was it better than i could of imagined. I know that this story is something Disney would NEVER touch with a ten foot pole and yeah. Its still a wonderful book

Perhaps the First Order, to compensate for their lack of numbers, should soften up a planet first by finding the Death Wing Virus, perfecting it, and using it. It would force their enemies to waste their resources putting down bullet sponges that were their former civilians they were supposed to be protecting (very bad for morale). Good for keeping the enemy busy, or demoralized and exhausted for an invasion. I'm just trying to think of things that could make First Order more formidable of a faction. They don't have the numbers or money that the Empire had, so they have to find some way of making the best of what was leftover of the Empire. So they somehow find a way to weaponize the Death Wing virus, controlling zombies like battle droids. Also, Kylo Ren finally gets his personal clone army and they make use of Dark Trooper Mechs, and they do so by utilizing leftover bio tech from the Vong war, and possibly leftover Dark Nest/Hive/Colony for controlling/possessing zombies and droids.

I didn't think zombies in Star Wars would work, but I ended up listening to the audiobook out of curiosity. Boy did this story prove me wrong! The horror was executed so well that I had nightmares of being in this situation! One where I was running and hiding on the Purge with distant screaming in the background and red lights glowing beneath me, and another where I came across a bloodied, zombie Stormtrooper (*in my basement!*) with its back to me, swaying eerily side-to-side, just waiting...and then it turned around and chased me up a flight of stairs with a horde right behind it. Never in my life did I think a zombie Stormtrooper would scare me so bad. I bought the physical copy of the book, but I have yet to get around to it. I listened to a part of the audiobook for Red Harvest, and it made me scratch my head and go "Uhh...okay then." It was nowhere near as intense or interesting, so never bothered to look back at it.

Whatever you do, don't read this story while having a flu....or you may just transform. I read this book while sick and had an awful time. It was fun but awful.

Listening to the audiobooks for Death Troopers and Red Harvest first ruined my experience with trying to read the books later on because the screaming sound effects traumatized me. Red Harvest is dumb but has some cool concepts and the narration by John Glover was pretty well done.

Django Fett I just finished revisiting Red Harvest the other day and felt like Schreiber was deliberately phoning it in. He put some thought into the concept of the Sith Academy and Odacer Faustin, even adding in an interesting world-building trivia about the planet in an interview, but the zombie and horror aspects felt like he was contractually forced to include them and didn't really care much about them at that point. And the characters... No effort put in whatsoever.

I remember a long time ago there was a video on KZbin about the Star Wars death Troopers audiobook and it was 11 hours long, and while it was still up I did watch it or rather listen to it and it was pretty good
