Well written by Mandee Pauch in January of this year, 2019. ...and a deserved piece for the driver Greg Hodnett... had over 250 wins, 20 of which came against the World of Outlaws....5 track championships, 5 PA Speedweek titles. The #27 ( Hodnett's last car #), will be retired at all tracks in Central PA. If Greg was in the top 5 with a few laps to go you would see him dive-bomb his car in the corners...demonstrating a skill few mortals have. I hope Sherry his wife is managing OK. What an inspiration ! I drove 10 hours through the night arriving at that church in York PA...got there right at 10am as the funeral started. For 3 hours people spoke of Greg...yes one of the best racers but far far more than that. At the end of those 3 hours Sherry spoke...oh so inspiring. Strong statements...compelling. Remember, the day before many paid their respects. Sherry made it through all of this and concluded with a compelling/passionate statement about Greg and their wonderful relationship. I had to jump the gun (or is it jump the start...do I have to go to the rear? :) ). Orange County Fair Speedway Centennial Weekend Day No. 3 (Middletown NY). I figure Mandee is probably having a nice hot/crisp bagel as she writes this up !! Matt Williamson won the big race at Orange County Fair Speedway in Middletown NY. I never heard of the guy. He is from Saint Cathetines Canada. ....he had never won a feature before. He even beat out Stuart Friesen and other notables. There was a 2 hour delay due to rain. This was/is the 100th anniversary of the track. Also beat out Matt Shepard who due to an earlier collision had to go to the rear. ....beat Danny Johnson, Jimmy Phelps, Larry Wight....Anthoney Perrego was always in the thick of it .. A Justin Hears was 7th...never heard of him..bug accomplishment ! 160 laps! ...I wanted to be there...Krummel 10th, Mahaney 11th...good showings ! Wonder what happened to Billy Pauch Jr, Jimmy Horton, Brett Hearn, Erick Rudolph, Billy Pauch Sr, Jeff Strunk (saw him win at GrandView Speedway) Ryan Godown, Richie Eurich, Tim Fuller, Tyler Dippel (he won Big block Modified races when he was a kid), Tommy Meir (typically does well here). Figure some of these were caught up in the eatly-on wreck (caused by a slick track due to rain?). Look at all that did not qualify. Jeff Hoetzler, Danny Creedon....many. Jeff of Maine, now Maryland ! 11:15am August 18, 2019

I hope Middletown figures out the track a little more, i went to Eastern States last year and they were holding onto the bottom for dear life. I have seen some fantastic races at Middletown, but i have seen some snooze fests there, it doesnt have anything in between

I thought it was awesome that Billy called out the track for not doing their part on having a decent surface. The owners and promoters need way more of that. The dry, slick, 1 groove, so dusty you cant see the cars has to be on its way now. I'm a heavy track kinda guy so if we went back in time 20 or more years i'd be good with that.

All in all not so bad,least you not breaking anything, and most definitely people do change when large amounts of money are on offer, I don't understand why track officials don't listen to billy snr with his assessment of the track and do something to make the racing better for driver's and spectators alike. They need to till the surface and water it all night.... slick one groove tracks are the worse....tracks leave the surface hard slick on purpose because it's smooth...makes boring racing!
