I think the nun is called "a messenger" because, if you remember in Vol. 2, the twisted version of a nun appeared on screen and started whispering something. Going back to the “ distraught at the sight of her missing infant “ part. Remember how the tape said, “ wait till the baby finish crying then go into the room “. Also recall the point where in part 333 when the children’s tv host said to create a new friend, Adam was creating a “friend” through the tv who later became Thatchers alternate. But if the tape says wait for your baby to finish crying, I believe it means that the intruders in the tv has taken your baby and an alternate has assimilated and turned into yours. Only when your baby has been taken by an alternate may you move into the room. Adams parents went into the room before the alternate could assimilate and replace the baby, hence the missing infant.

I just realized something. "In the Beginning" the voice narrating the story is the Intruder's voice, the one he used to create the identity of "Stanley" to reveal himself to Adam. Makes sense when he later says "Awaken, my son." and Adam in the Biblical cartoon is awoken and lured in to bite the apple. I like to think the apple represents the knowledge of Adam's true nature as an alternate that he never realized he was. And the Intruder's conversation with him later is a way to concretely confirm that to the audience of people who didn't get the hints earlier. Alex literally told us the twist right at the beginning of Vol 4 without us even noticing and that's genius.

idk if anyone has noticed yet, but i think the whole retelling of the genesis story actually foreshadows the true identity of adam at the end. in the genesis story, adam is lured in by false gabriel, and then eve wakes up terrified of what can be interpreted as adam's alternate staring down at her. evelin's name is a parallel to eve here, and when she talks about adam saying those awful and terrible things, she also mentions how adam was the nicest guy until he started the investigation, indicating a change in behavior much like how eve was terrified of the new "adam" looming over her

Hot take: I don't think Jonah was dead on the side of the road for two main reasons. Reason 1: I could have been mishearing, but I believe when Adam's voice was repeating over and over again and someone yelled for the voices to get out of his head, I believe that was Jonah. Adam doesn't show negative responses towards the alternates messing with him and goes out of his way to seek out encounters with them like we were shown in Volume 2. As well as in a teaser for this season of MC I believe there was a clip of Adam and Jonah having a conversation where Jonah refused to go anywhere with Adam because he doesn't believe Adam is the same after what happened in Volume 2 Reason 2: Adam's choice of words when talking to Sarah about the incident. He was very cold and uncaring about whatever happened to Jonah, but still chose to say "dead, or something". If he saw Jonah's body big chilling on the side of the road, I don't think he'd even say " or something " he'd have just outright confirmed Jonah is dead. ( I COULD BE VERY WRONG, THIS IS JUST WHAT I HAVE BEEN THINKING.)

I love how we've gone from hearing about how alternates do their thing back in volume one to watching them do it now. Like Thatcher's alternate using his insecurities against him is exactly what we saw described as their "psychological warfare" in the first informational tape
