Zwelivelile Mandela, the grandson of Nelson Mandela chanted 'Free Free Palestine' during his speech at the opening of the 2022 African Nations Championship (CHAN) in Algeria on Friday.
The speech, in which he also spoke in support of Western Sahar, was slammed by Morocco as “provocative”.

By the way this was at the opening of CHAN and the new Nelson Mandela Stadium in Algiers Algeria, Madiba long life struggle for the oppressed was always supported by the Algerian state and people with which he has a long history, he received military training with members of the ANC in Algeria in 1963 for which he was unfortunately questioned at his return in SA by the Afrikaans government, but he returned in Algeria 5 months after his liberation in 1990 and a few months before his nobel peace prize And for the relation of Algeria with Palestine’s struggle is of course also a long list of events, among them the Algiers summit of 1988 for the Palestinian Declaration of Independence, read by Yasser Arafat and written by Mahmoud Darwish, and in which more than 150 countries recongnized officially the state of Palestine (some have unfortunately rescinded that recognition under pressures from the Usa)
