I used to travel from Kingston to Williamsfield regularly from January 1959 till July 1962 on this railway and remember it fondly. I went to school in Mandeville. I would love to see Jamaican railways running again. JNS, Rugby England.

Wow, I remember that area very well, I used to work at Alcan back in the day. It is so sad to see those two historic train stations at Williamsfield and Kendal just sit in ruin. There is so much potential. I wish someone would look at developing that as a tourist attraction. That coffee is very historic also. They could offer short train rides between Williansfield and Kendal, have gift shops at each location, and also have a coffee shop.....

The crash site is in kendal District, the kendal train station is in Williamsfield. Two different places. Each year in September the Church across the Kendal police station keeps a church service dedicated to the crash victims where actual offsprings of survivors of the crash come and share their stories.

Does the mud lake ruin the ground water in the Area? It sits at higher elsvstion than the areas that have water wells such as Porus. As you know liquid travels downhill, even underground.
@FireReid2 жыл бұрын
I don't think so
@michaelasante25092 жыл бұрын
@@FireReid Yes it does. We do not realize the environment degradation that results from these mining activities. Watch what will happen if the Cockpit area is mined and the natural hydrology is disturbed. The western half of the island is linked to the Cockpit area. Large rivers in this area are linked through underground rivers that originate in the Cockpit and flow into St. Ann, Manchester, St. Elizabeth, Clarendon and of course Trelawny. A lot of the damage to be done is irreversible.
