A couple corrections: - Sun & Moon: Turns out you can assemble a 10% Zygarde on Route 16 before getting to Poni Island. My bad! I've only played the Ultra versions since those came out, and I mistakenly thought Zygarde was postgame in all the Alola games. - Sword & Shield (DLC): I've learned you can get the Suicune from Dynamax Adventures immediately upon arrival at the Crown Tundra. I did not realize the catch level limit did not apply to Raid bosses! This makes it effectively a tie with Kubfu, as both are obtainable before the first badge (which requires more work is a bit more subjective, but they can happen at the same point in the story). Apologies for my oversights here. Pokemon is complicated, and while my knowledge/memory is good, it isn't perfect!

Fun fact about the Jirachi for Ruby/Sapphire: ITS A TROJAN HORSE! The bonus disc, while giving you a Jirachi, it also patches the infinite berry glitch that is very useful in Gen 3

Fun fact about Pokémon Dream Radar; After you catch Landorus, you can find any of the Gen 4 box art Legendary Pokémon if you have their respective game in the cartridge slot. Meaning you can have a Level 5 Tornadus, Thundurus, Landorus, Dialga, Palkia, Giratina, Ho-Oh and Lugia in Black 2 or White 2 before even having a single badge. That is insane.

the biggest middle finger imo is how they just hand out mews nowadays. the pokeball plus didn't _need_ to distribute a mew, but they added it anyway to increase the price and further devalue mew's speciality. when ruby and sapphire came out mew wasn't even officially released as a pokemon yet to north america audiences according to an old guidebook i had. i genuinely miss when mew was actually special.

Indeed, though unlike the USA bonus disc, in order to get celebi, you need to purify all 48 shadow pokemon in colosseum AND in your gba game you must have entered the hall of fame (unless of course you trade the celebi you get initially for the colosseum game itself). There is also a limit to how many celebi you can distribute per colosseum save file [48 (one for each purified pokemon)+1 you receive in colosseum=49]. The good thing with celebi is that it can be transferred to any of the 5 gen3 gba games, as long as the copy's language is Japanese. In contrary, both jirachi from the USA bonus disc and jirachi from channel can go ONLY to either ruby or sapphire.

I’d argue the dynamax adventure legendaries are earlier than kubfu since you gain access to the crown tundra and isle of armor at the same time. All you have to do is lose to peony and then do the adventure, compared to doing the quests in the isle of armor. I think this also puts swsh above usum for the number of legendaries before the league and at one point.

Fun fact! It's still likely slower than doing the DA for Suicune, but Johnstone found out if you put Kubfu in Pokemon HOME, the game skips the quests and lets you battle Mustard in one of the towers with your normal team. Returning Kubfu to your team later will still allow you to climb the tower to evolve it!

I agree with this for sure. You don't even need to beat Peony to get in. You can just take the train to the Crown Tundra, lose the battle, make a beeline to Dynamax Adventures, and win the first one to get the Suicune. All with 0 Pokémon training beyond what it takes to get to Motostoke. It's probably even quicker to get extra legendaries from Dynamax Adventures after the Suicune than it is to pivot to the Isle of Armor to get Kubfu.

Notably skipping Winona means the earlist possible Regis are all 3 for emerald but only Regirock and Regice for Ruby ans Sapphire since Registeel's puzzle requires fly. It might only require that you "use" the move outside of battle and that would somehow not require Winona's badge but otherwise you need to get her unecessary badge to get Registeel. If skipping Brawly is possible though then Registeel is not obtainable the earliest in either version since in Emerald it needs flash which is what Brawly gives.

5:30 just for clarification, you can use Dive with only 6 badges but it's Winona who you skip, not Brawly. You can skip Brawly when you first reach his gym but you have to battle him before Norman so he's just a temporal skip. Winona can be skipped until you reach the league and are denied entry because you don't have the 8 badges.

I remember having such a hard time catching mespirit in Pkmn Platinum back in the day! You had to catch a high enough level golbat to know mean look and hypnosis is clutch for higher percent catch rate at low health (how I catch all legendary / high level Pokémon), and maybe about 50 ultra balls and on top of that you have to guess where on the map its gonna randomly move to next… I ended up having a friend help me out Bcuz I was so mad bout that. 😂

I think the concept of roamers is really cool since you could run into a legendary without even knowing, but in practice they were often patience-trying and way more annoying to catch than they needed to be. It in fact can. Catching an Abra is the earliest way to perform the glitch, it only requires defeating Brock.

@@joonas394 Yes, in Cerulean City. With Red/Blue, it's a little easier, I don't know the method for Yellow. You need to go past Nugget Bridge, catch an Abra in the grass next to the bridge (without the trainer there seeing you), then beat the trainer with a Slowpoke. The Slowpoke is very important because it has the perfect numbers for the glitch to generate Mew, make sure to beat it but then NO OTHER POKEMON, or the glitch will generate a completely different Pokemon. Then go the same patch of grass right before the trainer spots you (save just in case), then press down and Start as fast as you can, if it works you'll see the ! above the trainer's head, but the Start menu will come up at the same time. Use Abra's Teleport to go back to the Cerulean City PokeCenter. If you did it right, the moment you start heading towards the route with Nugget Bridge again, the Start menu will open up by itself. Close it to start a battle, and there's your Mew to catch.

There is technically 2 legendary Pokémon in diamond and pearl that you can get earlier, being arceus and darkrai using a memory corruption glitch to go out of bounds and all you need is the bike and the step counter

Weird but cool story because of the legendary beasts: my dad actually did that. One of my brothers was playing Gen 2 and handed the game to my dad(who knew Jack on how to play outside of small rules like catching) to do something, and he goes “I caught you a Pokémon, I just threw a ball at it.” When asked what he went “some saber tooth cat thing. I think it’s electric type because it’s yellow.” My brother then realized this madlad ran into Raikou by accident and, with it at full health first turn, threw a regular pokeball and caught it. None of us have ever done something that cool in Pokémon since and the future gyms didn’t know what hit them

I used the Poke Ball Plus for my entire playthrough of Let's Go Pikachu, and postgame shiny hunting, and had no problem with it. I figured out the throwing mechanic right away. You weren't supposed to make an actual throwing motion, you just had to flick your wrist. I hit Excellent Throws on everything. Yes, the price was too high, and you only got one Mew, but it later became compatible with Pokemon Go, where it works as an autocatcher and an autospinner. I use it every day on my commute to and from work, and it has been a lifesaver. Without it I wouldn't be Level 49, almost 50. I'm so glad I own one.

You can also do the Galarian Birds once you get the bike upgrade. I don't recall how much of the Regis you can do because of their locations. I've done all of it while testing the limits of the DLC. Plus, the KZbinr Johnstone did a Subathon where he got a living dex from Kanto to Galar DLC. He also did the Dynamax Adventures to get some legendary Pokemon to quickly playthrough the game and get the Pokemon he needed for the challenge in the post game.

If Mythical Pokemon count, you can technically get Mew via the Mew Glitch in Red, Blue, and Yellow with only one badge. One of the methods of doing the Mew Glitch involves using Abra to Teleport back to Cerulean City, and this can be done before fighting Misty.

If we include events that make you catch the Pokemon yourself instead of just giving it to you, then in BW, you can get a Victini as early as 2 badges. You just need the Liberty Pass event item and you can travel to Liberty Garden from Castelia City. Unfortunately, unless you have some way of "triggering the event", this isn't valid for the list. This would also include the legendary beasts and Celebi in BW, as you can do this at the same time, but it requires another game. In Castelia City, there's an npc that'll let you transfer over certain event mons from Gen4. One of these is to transfer the legendary beasts, but only the shiny event versions, while the other is Celebi, from the same distribution timeframe. All four of these are tied to the Zoroark movie and are involved in a side-quest to obtain Zorua and Zoroark. Unfortunately, again, they were events in Gen4 (no badges required), so you'd both need a way of "triggering the events" and a second DS to transfer from. As a random fun fact about the Relocator: There is an event item in HGSS called the Lock Capsule that can also be transferred over, and inside of it is TM95 (Snarl). There's a problem, though. The Lock Capsule was never distributed. As such there is no legit way to obtain TM95 in BW. Meaning the programed an in-game event around an event item they never gave out!

Fun fact : In Pokemon Ultra Sun or Ultra Moon , You can hunt Shiny Legendaries in Wormhole that if only you have patience to save and restart your game over and over again ( I know cause it took me 2 or 3 days just to get 1 Shiny Legendary....if lucky , I can get 2 legendaries with Shiny Charm) but there a catch , if you already catch a legendary Pokemon , it will never appear again so basically you have lost your shiny.....for example , if you already catch Moltres , you can't hunt Shiny Moltres anymore since it will never appear anymore ( I know cause I have make a mistake by catching Mewtwo because I was to excited when it appeared but later on my friend said if I already catch it , I can't get its shiny).

If we're counting peripheral console games as a legitimate method of obtaining Jirachi in Gen III, then you can encounter Zapdos with only two badges in Gen I. If you transfer a Fresh Water to yourself using Stadium 2, you only need to beat Brock and Koga. You don't need to beat Misty to leave Cerulean City, you just need to get the SS Ticket from Sea Cottage. So if you have a Fresh Water in your bag, you can go straight to Saffron City without ever getting Cut or going through Rock Tunnel. And once you're in Saffron, you have access to Celadon City and Lavender Town in the normal way, meaning you can get the Pokeflute and procced to Fuchsia City without ever obtaining another badge. Once you've got the Surf HM and beaten Koga, you can go through Rock Tunnel in the reverse direction than intended to get the the Power Plant without needing to beat Misty or get Cut.

For the Scarlet and Violet DLC's, Meloetta can be caught before Ogerpon. 1. Get up to the beginning of the treasure hunt 2. Accept the Kitakami Trip offer 3. Progress until you are paired up with Kieran 4. Accept the Blueberry Academy Exchange Student offer 5. Progress until you get access to the Terrarium 6. Make Your way to the location your friend on the playground told you about (Since your ride pokemon doesn't have any upgrades yet, go through the Torchlit Labyrinth cave [between Savanna & Coastal Biome boarders] and out the top of the waterfall, then jump down towards the grassy area) 7. Perform the steps to get Meloetta to spawn in 8. Save 9. Keep throwing pokeballs until you catch Meloetta It is level 70 so it won't listen to you until you get the right amount of badges, but it is possible almost right at the beginning of the game
