*gasp* I traded the winning Pokémon. The Firafgagrig was mine! Woo! Even though I wanted Mikey to win. But putting that aside, I have a bit of a confession. I started the event trading with my scarlet account which happened to be named Michael. I figured I could at least intercept a few Drowzees, and maybe cause an interaction like John saying “Mikey, I know you’re very lonely, but you don’t have to resort to trading with yourself.” And while I did intercept 2 Drowzees at first, once people started offering shinies, I figured it would probably cause people to think negatively of Mikey for backing out of trades. So after about 5 trades, I switched over to my Violet file named Taylor, quickly assembled some trades, and finally encountered John after about an hour. Although while in Scarlet, I did receive a level 97 Meowscarada named Gerard Way, so if that person wants it back, I’ll be more than willing to return it.

I thought up a challenge just now. It tests your pokemon knowledge to some extent - Randomly generate a Gym Leader, Elite 4 member or a Champion from any game & catch a pokemon they use * It doesn't have to be from the game that trainer is from = if you rolled Siebold you don't have to catch a pokemon in X/Y exclusively, it can be from any game you have available * Doesn't have to be the exact pokemon, could just be something from the same evolutionary line = If you get Steven for instance, you don't have to catch a Metagross in specific, a Beldum would do just fine * Doesn't have to be their ace, just a pokemon that they've used at some point = For Cynthia it doesn't have to be her Garchomp, it could be the Spiritomb or Roserade instead The fastest to catch 1 pokemon that fits the category wins the round Each round you roll a new trainer and repeat until X amount of points If you want more randomness you could add the rival characters and their teams to the pool. Or Evil Team Leaders or admins. Or for challenge you could add other significant trainers that don't fit any of these categories. Like Professor Oak (as he did at some point have a team), Red (from the Johto based games or Let's Go etc.), The final boss of Coloseum or Gale of Darkness, Mirror B, etc etc. As long as the character is memorable and important enough as a whole they can be involved. This might also help add challenge as you'll have to remember what they used (Probably you can't include trainers from games neither of you have played, that might be unfair) As an added challenge you could also make it so you can't go look up their team until you've caught something. Looking up in this case would be cheating, so either you remember or don't and then have to just go guess and catch something and hope to be correct Optionally you can also roll a different trainer for both players, but you could both be hunting for the same trainer's pokemon too. Which ever you prefer! (Like you roll Cynthia and both hunt for a pokemon she's used, or one rolls Cynthia and the other Siebold and they hunt for their respective trainer's pokemon) Feel free to alter stuff to your liking! You could make it easier or harder if you prefer. Allow certain things, catch 2 pokemon instead of 1, has to be the Exact pokemon they use, timer, no repeat pokemon, etc etc.
