Mandolin Pick Technique- Crosspicking & Syncopation

Been hammerin' away on a six string for just over four decades. I've never come close to a fraction of your talent but it makes me happy. Anyway... Your instructional videos are inspiring. I play only from sheet music. Would you say that it is wrong to let the music dictate picking? I know different stroke techniques, but in classical I've almost always used down stokes on the beat and upstrokes on the off UNLESS it makes it impossible to do so. Some of Bach's music requires different picking styles. Thanks.

no wrong way to play music, and when in doubt, practice it both ways!
