amazing 3d model. Finally someone did what i have wondered about in years. Why not have a pipe running all the way through the model for easier assembly and strength. Great model, just finished printing it and is now looking for 25mm and 8mm pipe. If you used a 3/4" pipe instead of 1". You could have 3d printed a hexagonal piece to slide over the outer barrel and a round pice for the inner, to be more screen accurate.
@RobPauza3 жыл бұрын
Thanks! Unfortunately everybody has been buying up the 25 and 8mm rods to build this and they are super hard to find now. :) If you haven't found something yet, I'd recommend taking a part that has the holes to the hardware store. I know a lot of people have been using dowels and even shower rods. I have a hex piece if you want it btw. I made this rifle back when there was only a couple ref pics before the show started, so it definitely isn't 100% accurate. Thanks for the comment and good luck with the build.

Also, I saw others asking about the 25mm rod, I couldn't find one either but scaled the entire print at 101.5% to fit a shower rod and so far its come out great and does not look any bigger than all the other pics.

Sorry for the delay. Glad you figured it out. I used a spring from a ballpoint pen. Thanks for the comments!

It looks amazing! I'm also in the middle of making the pulse rifle and I believe it's also from your file. What color brown did you used for your stock? I'm having a hard time replicating a wood color on plastic.

Thanks so much! Honestly, no idea if it’s not in the video. 🤣 I did mix it from several colors and overlayed several variations to simulate wood grain. I’m not sure that’s much help, but I’m guessing there’s probably some great tutorials on KZbin for painting wood.

Did you ever specify the lengths of the rods?

Do you recall the colors you used for the wood grain look?

Of which type of material is the pipe ? Wondering what I can get in Germany

I used carbon fiber, but you can use pretty much anything. I've heard of shower rods. wooden dowels, etc. I'd recommend printing one of the main body parks that the pipe goes through, then taking it to a hardware store to see what you can find that fits. Keep in mind you need room for glue.

Is there a link to either of the rods you used? I’m having trouble finding some

The ones I used were from Amazon, but are always sold out. Most people use wooden dowels. 1” is almost exactly 25mm and should work fine. I usually recommend printing one of the parts that has both rod holes and taking it to a hardware store to find something that works. Remember that you need a little room for glue.
