This is basically exactly how every large Lego SW set is nowadays. Amazing build, a lot of good details and prints, BUT clearly overpriced and a lot of frustrating corners cut with the minifigures. Why did they use the fat Bib Fortuna head? Why is there not more of the various aliens to fill out the barge? And how the hell is the $580 combo still not enough to get more than one desert skiff to make the scene accurate?

Back in 2006 you could buy a sail barge *with* desert skiff *and* sarlacc pit for $90. Now for $10 less you get everything *but* the sail barge, which costs $500 extra.

adjusted for inflation, that's $140 for a playscale barge, skiff and sarlacc pit, not a 3,900 piece behemoth. don't get me wrong - the recent skiff is insanely overpriced (and i feel like the UCS barge is overpriced too) but not adjusting for inflation is dishonest

Would’ve been probably a comparable volume of parts to include a skiff instead which would’ve been so much better. Big miss there in my opinion besides the lack of gamorean guards and the laziness with other figures. The barge itself is great but there’s some definite issues outside of it besides being overpriced as well. I’m very tempted to just remain content with my 2013 version.

I think they should've included a copy of the current Skiff set, minus the Sarlacc pit. In the scene in the movie, you have 2 Skiffs. So it could be, buy the UCS and the Desert Skiff set for the whole scene

Like you mentioned when comparing to $500 sets of other themes, should have included way more figures. Throw in another gamorean guard and lots of Jabba's crew. There are tons of different species and droids they could have included. Even if they just had variations of more weequays and skiff guards, it would've been far better than this. Beyond that, it absolutely should've included the skiff, sarlacc, and full cast that are included in that set.

$500 set for reused minifigs from 11 years ago?? I wouldn't complain if this was a $150 play-set. But this is the highest standard of luxury lego. The target audience is literally adults. Why are we reusing bib fortuna mold from bobas throne room which is inaccurate to RTJ. Why is c3po not have dual molded legs?? And dont get me started with the jabbas henchmen. One of them literally reuses a head piece from one of the figures from the pirate snub fighter. Further, nun of the henchmen even have leg printing. Don't get me wrong, the sail barge looks beautiful. However 4 years ago when we got the cantina it was $150 less, double the figures, and the exclusive aliens actually custom molded heads like they should. The figures are super underwhelming.

The head being reused for the pirate is not an issue at all since they're the same species, and faces look nothing different in the mandalorian or rtj. But everything else, i agree, and i am pretty sure they reused the entire bib fortuna minifig, not just the fat mold part, but the head, the torso, and the legs look exactly like the one from tge throneroom set, which is ofc even worse.

I really think lego treatment of the star wars franchise is due to a lingering annamosity of it was what saved lego from going bankrupt not their own ip sets. And it's just unfortunate that they treat it that way! Lack of detail, figs, parts, getting things right when now a days we have internet to check quality to what actually appeared. The reason is simple they could care less that it saved the business plus everyone keeps buying star wars even if ripoff or inaccurate so why change?

Exaclty. The interior based on the crossection is bigger - it has almost 3 floors. I can understand haslab version and the fans were happy they got a big vehicle after years, but lego does not have the same limitations - lego Titanic is 135cm long (there was no reason to make it almost 1m long, maybe 4studs wider and have at least the back 2nd floor on the top.

I get that they haven't made the version of his headpiece from Return of the Jedi since 2012, but reusing the piece from Boba Fett's throne room is so cheap and lazy, especially in a $500 UCS set... If they wanted accuracy, they would use plain legs and a printed cloth piece that is in front and back (they did used skirts cloth pieces in the past) and make a golden ornamented boots printed - that would be the ultimate accurate solution This is so stupid that im glad i have all the previous 3 naked version of that figure and also Oola as nowadays everything is woke, even super expensive sets for adults.

I think Lego has to pay alot of star wars IP licensing which is why they maybe have a low budget for the rest of the set. It seems they really need to cut costs at all aspects of star wars sets.

It looks decent enough and the side characters on the barge are a nice inclusion because they don't always get the attention, but I feel like its lacking for a $500 price point.

Im so mixed on this set. Build ia perfect. Price is a little sketchy but then you compare it to Rivendell for the same price and Barge price is kinda absurd. Jabba, Max Rebo, R2, and all the Guards are all perfect figures. C-3PO should have had the dual molded leg. Salacious should have had pupils. Bib should have had a better head piece and possible pupils (its not as soulless as Salacious and kinda works like Thrawn.) And I think Leia should have had printed shoes. Maybe arm printing but that may be treading into overdetail territory. Overall I think it is pretty good, but figs should have been better for the price.

I think Jabba got to keep his normal eyes because his eyes have that more snake like shape. Since the Sith eyes and Salacious eyes still have circular pupils they have the weird eyes.

Honestly only thing I see improved in new Leia is the hair piece. Put this hair on 2013 Slave Leia and I think that’s the best we’ll ever see. The basketball shorts just don’t look right. Should have did the same style as 2013. And I’m not even going to start on C3POs legs 😡.

I think the main problem with the set is it's too expensive for what it is, so that causes the problem that if it's gonna be this price, we need more stuff. If it was cheaper by at least 50 dollars if I'm generous, most of the problems wouldn't be problems for me. But this is a sign of good things to come, you know what comes next. The palace. PS. I don't think I could have moved on with life if jabba was blind.

I will say I’m surprised they didn’t include Droopy McCool and Sy Snootles in this set considering they are actually named and semi known characters that are part of Max Rebo’s band as I can’t think of another set they would show up in anytime soon, and tha Cantina had so many characters along that vein. Also a couple extra weequay characters even unnamed would have fit nicely!

At this point...it's pretty obvious Lego SW only does the best versions of MFs in certain sets so then people buy more sets. They aren't hiding it at this point and it's sad bc I (and many others) simply can't afford all sets to get said "exclusives". It just feels shady how Lego keeps doing this for essentially ONLY Star Wars figs.

Leia is terrible with the shorts pants. If they wanted to have accurate figure, they could use plain legs and a cloth piece similar to the hawai girl in CMF. Here are my thoughts on the figs: Gamorean - missing dualmolded legs to see his green legs - looking at my 6" Hasbro figure, the legs are pretty prominent - so another fail with the dualmolded needed but not used Bib - unacceptable reuse of the fat mold - lazy, missing cape (coz cloth is very expensive nowadays for lego) Kithaba - we already had him (sw0397), minimum upgrade, but OK - the headpiece is more accurate. Yet missing doublemolded legs. Vizam - not totally bad, could also use doublemold legs and the headpiece is not a bad choice if they dont want to make a new mold Wooof - OKish but should have a leg print of that wool skirt Leia - unacceptable, doublemolds shorts used for political reasons only, missing the jewelry on the hands and printed boots (i display mine on studs, i immediately took her off the studs due to the legs cracking issues as this version will skyrocket in price) 3PO - should have been have been the one from UCS landspeeder and the statue as thats the most correct one (personally dont have him yet, landspeeder was not interesting enough to purchase, statue the same) R2 - ok, another to the pile of R2s Max - ok, reused, dont see a bally print on the picture, dont really care since i have 2pcs and he is not really an usable figure Salacious B. Crumb - ok mold, but terrible eyes
