Ok, I need to bring this up. So I started wondering why we got such a bad at st set and the werid crawler (which is never seen) But in SolidBrixStudios latest video he showed the concept art. Then I thought back to how the toy industry works and possibly works in LEGO's case as well. Toys are built in a year or more prior usually before release of a film. Except by that time there is only concept art and the starting of shooting possibly. So my theory is that LEGO's horrible AT-ST was not because of their laziness but actaully the lack of infromation they probably had on the at st. Which actaully was a similar problem for the first company to ever make star wars toys to begin with. LEGO probably only had one or two concept art for the at st showing the bb8 and the legs and not the full deal. That also explains the werid walker we got that never was used in the film. I am pretty sure I am right about it so I would like to hear some thoughts on it. (Note this was written a week ago, so I just posted it here as well.)

RS Builds LEGO does get concept art for the first line of sets released, but by the time this set was being designed, the movie was in post production or finished, meaning they had full information on the scene. Also, if they only had concept art, how is the scene so accurate to the movie? Almost all concept art for a production is changed heavily before the final product is produced

Lego has made things removal before on a lot of their larger and more detailed sets, namely the modular series line. Specifically, the upper levels to allow access to the interior. They also do this with some smaller buildings, too. There is still plenty of stability in those sets, and they could have done it here as well

Honestly, I've heard that the mini figures are pretty much the saving grace of the set. Phasma looks more refined, you really can't go wrong with BB-8, Rose has a great hat and hair mold, and we get Finn in a different outfit. BTW, I didn't have a problem with Rose in the movie, and I certainly wouldn't compare her to Jar Jar. Jar Jar was forced comedic relief added for the kids. Rose actually had a purpose in showing the other people in the Resistance. Those less noticed workers who themselves experience losses just as the leaders have. I'm glad that was explored a bit more. No, she wasn't one of my favorite characters, but I don't think the film was hurt by her inclusion.

The only way you're getting a Phasma figure now is via third party sellers online, and seeing as the figure is no longer being produced, that totally jacks up the value. Luckily, I managed to get the First Order Transport released with the TFA line. Either way, she was a relatively minor character who's unlikely to be included in future sets.

It's kind of a shame the set overall is flawed piece and price wise. I really like the idea of this unique AT-ST and the Finn and Rose minifigs are excellent, but this set probably sold poorly and it's already a niche set choice as it is so I wouldn't be surprised if we never see the BB-8 AT-ST again. Maybe if they release a First Order AT-ST with detachable housing, but that's the only way I see this coming back.

This would’ve been worth it if capt phasma was chrome or they could’ve added the top of the at-st type thing

Is it possible to transplant the head from the Rogue One AT-ST onto the body of this one? The ‘torso’ component of the new one looks so much better, but the lack of a Head is such a letdown. It looks like they both just attach to the circular plate in the same way
