I am very fond of Sarah. I wasn't a huge fan of her last special, but I like her general vibe. Just pre-pandemic, I was part of the audience of a radio show she hosted. She was very friendly to the crowd.

The proper use of swearwords is an artform and Sarah is very good in that. I Like her, she is a good storyteller, uses almost subtile facial expressions and hand- and armgestures. She can be very dirty, and uses euphemisms often and sometimes she is absolutely of her rockers. In het tv show she invites actors from a show and then play a little sketch with them, like Game of Thrones. Hilarious!

Love Sarah, she's delightful. And my eldest sister has had that shopping methodology in place for decades. Browsing, finding stuff on sale, "That'll be good for X," etc. There's a whole room in her house she uses for storage. The problem with her buying for me began once I moved across the country. One year, she bought me a nice printer/scanner for Xmas, because I'd been ranting about how printers sucked, and were a scam, and I was like "Oh, this is really nice! Thank you! I wonder how I'm gonna get it back home without paying Delta $75 for extra baggage?" That and getting me stuff I'd already bought myself. So we made a deal, once decent phone cameras came out: If she sees a small, strange musical instrument that can fit in a carry-on at a thrift shop, text me a photo, and I'd let her know. That worked for awhile, until I got back to the hometown for the holidays one year, found a cool '60s melodica for $25 at a thrifty, and said "Ooh, I'm gettin' that!" She went "Wait! Let me get it! It'll be your Xmas!" Takes away the "magic," but fair enough. Since then, thankfully, she suggested that we siblings just stop with the gift-giving, since most of them are misses, and Xmas just ends up with all of us having to return items, and ultimately "writing checks" to each other, lol. I think she just wanted the mentality of always shopping for others gone from her life. Sweetly, a few days after Xmas one year, sitting up with my folks one night I spied an interesting box on the coffee table. I looked and asked them what it was. They said it was a gift from her. I felt really bad, because, as agreed-upon, I hadn't got her anything. Called her up, and she said she'd forgotten, and got me something, but was planning to return it. I told her not to bother, and I'd Venmo her the amount, because I really wanted it. It was a really nice kalimba (handheld "thumb piano" inspired by Zimbabwean Mbiras). So nowadays, I don't know what to do every year . . .

Yes, John Lewis is a Department store, where each floor or area sells certain products - menswear, lingerie , ladieswear, home goods, etc. US equivalent would be Mary's, Sears, JC Penney. Named after the original owner John Lewis - similar to Woolworths or Selfridges.

His husband/partner is another comedian named gary delaney (who I very much recommend, specially if you like jimmy carr), and I love when two comedians are married to each other because when you hear a bit about their wife/husband you don't have to imagine how they look like, you already know them. But the main reason why I love it is because you learn things about them that they themselves didn't choose to share. If you watch gary delaney's stand-up you'd never guess he's that sweet of a guy, but here she pretty much blown his cover. Edit: after watching the second part of the video I'm like "oh yeah, this sounds more like him"

My ex girlfriend's family had a strange form of present giving. They would get you to buy something you wanted, then take it away and wrap it up and give it to you at Christmas or birthday. One time I got myself new trainers and they disappeared. I asked my girlfriend if she knew where they went. She said she gave them to her mum to give me them for Christmas. I had to wait 3 months to get them back. I was not a happy boy. Hope you're doing OK then Mandy. Great reaction as usual.

Gary Delaney needs a lot more love, although one minor criticism is he doesn't change his set much, so the same jokes are often repeated, but that might just be the nature of one liner comedy.

I'm not a fan of forced gift giving. I do love surprising people with random gifts though.
