"'m afraid I'll disappear" means he's afraid that his most true self will disappear if he cannot express it. Marlena is not a person, it's their muse. It's the personification of creativity and inspiration. He's asking his muse to come back to him, inspire him and give him the strength to be himself. This is a common theme of Mäneskin music.

I love your description. My own interpretation of Marlena is that she is not also the band's muse and inspiration but also their comfort, their peace and hope and all the good feelings. I mean it's sorta how I see Måneskin with these ballads of them. It's like Måneskin is my Marlena :)

Another important bit to know, is that Marlena is not a woman. She represents their muse, the band, the fans.. essentially Torna a casa is about writer's block. Damiano wrote the lyrics for this song when he was 16. They recorded it when they were 17 to 19. Torna a Casa is from Il Ballo della vita, their first album. If you want to hear another great balad of theirs, I'd try either Coraline or Vent'anni from Theatro d'ira

The way he delivers the lyrics is just incredible. And what I like is the difference between the English and the Italian songs because they are so diverse. They are really fantastic. And their Italian songs were written when they were so young. It’s impressive.

They are really diverse in their songs, i think that's why fans are a bit overprotective of them lol, cause we know they are able to do whatever and when they do silly songs they do it intentionally, cause they are also that, weird kids, with hidden messages in everything they do. Some other fan favorite if you like ballads are Coraline, Vent'anni, and Il Dono Della Vita in the Rush album. I'm happy you are so open minded and decided to react to this, thank you!

For me this song and video are a masterpiece work of art, tha fact that Damiano wrote it at 16 and it has such deep meaning makes it almost a miracle in my eyes. Another great one is La Paura del Buio and their performance on RadioItalia has English subtitles. The acapella at the end always gives me chills.

The Italian language as it is conceived fits perfectly with music and perfect lyrics. English of course is different and creates limitations in the language. Someone said a long time ago that Italian was not a language made for speaking but for singing. This means that a text is able to express any emotion by completely harmonizing with the music, and I'm not saying this because I'm Italian but because it's the truth. Thanks for your reaction.

A lot of people judge Maneskin based on a song or two they have heard (like Beggin for example) and think that’s all to the band. When you really dive into their songs, you suddenly realize that they are very very capable and Damiano is an amazing poet. Never judge a book by its cover and I think you just realized that 😂 I suggest La Paula del buio for your next Ma song to listen to but their Italian songs in general so worth the time spent looking for translation. English songs are a little bit more silly (except maybe for Gasoline and The Loneliest) but I personally love them all. Ok, maybe except for Supermodel 😂

People keep saying that the English songs are not as deep because of the market, but I don't really agree. Think about it, English is their second language, and as a writer (also not a native speaker), it's really really hard to write like that in a foreign language, even when you speak it very well. When inspiration hits it comes naturally in your native language. Also English is a bit limited in that way compared to Italian. Italian is a very expressive language perfect for peotry. Give them time and they might surprise us.

they had two albums before rush, Il ballo della vita, and Teatro d'ira - with great italian songs and all with great meaningful lyrics, Damiano is a real poet. He told in interviews thats much more difficult for him to write in italian bc the language is so much more expressive, in english he have not the pressure to find the right words bc its not his language. Listen to Coraline, (there is a video live in San Remo with orchestra and with english subtitles, Le parole lontane, Vent anni, Moriro da re, la paura del buio...., they have many deep songs!

Can’t disagree with anything you said. I LOVE the Italian songs. The lyrics are just so much deeper an poetic, which makes total sense. I do also like a lot of their English songs. It’s also about genre a bit. They actually can do pop, pop rock, rock, and hard rock, not to mention some of the amazing ballads. They are quite young, talented, and energetic. I think as people hear more of their catalog, they will appreciate the sound and the talent. As the band matures, and gets more proficient at English they will draw in more fans that actually better understand who they are, and what they are capable of. This band will continue to blow up and improve, and become a top tier act worldwide.

This song is an anthem to their passion for music an how much music (marlena) means to them and how difficult is when inspiration leave you an yu want to come back home, because wthout music they feel they are nothing they feel the cold. aminao also tell you what he was before meeting music. This song is the best love song to music and inspiration. You ave to understand that they are genuine and write what ever surround them, what ever the go through. There are times to be deep, times to play, time to express the emptyness of certain scenes, time to expres the longing for your country and what that inspire you and time to be young and sexy and provocative. So with Rush you heard just a little part of them, there is so much more...you should listen to Vent'anni and Coraline.

Only yesterday I went back to their older songs myself and listened to "Torna a casa" last night, and here today YT recommended your reaction, which I totally agree with. And please really listen to "Caroline". I don't know Italian, but "Caroline" is more than just a song. So, having listened to their Rush album, which I frankly don't like at all, and having now experienced Torna a Casa, would you agree with me that they should write more Italian songs? As an Italian fan, after their Teatro d'Ira Volume 1 album, I was so disappointed by Rush. I don't think Damiano is ready to write in English, and he shouldn't. Please react to Coraline, any live version is good, but their performance from Sanremo 2022 is epic. Have a close look at the lyrics beforehand, though. Thank you for your reaction.

This is still my fav song by them and you should really check the unplugged version which is perfection. Damiano is a sublime singer and he really thrives on ballads, his voice is powerfull, raspy and smooth at the same time. Obviously the italian songs are more melodic and richer, but i love rush and although they seem more funnier and easier songs, the themes are varied and complex, they talk about pressure, gossips, love, loneliness, bla bla is the exception, is just dam being dam😂. You should check le parole lontanne, for your love, ventanni, coraline, la paura del buio. Damiano has amazing hair and actually you can pinpoint their eras by his looks, also by his latest choices, THE HAIR is a sore subject amongst fanbase 😂

Rush may be better produced, and more refined, but I find most songs not particularly inspired. It's a very commercial album with some highlights. Earlier songs are rougher and less polished, but they hit much, much harder. There's a meaning, a message, and it's not just a language thing - although that's part of it.
