Manu, songs are great for acquiring language structure through repetition. Also, the poetic interpretation is a chance to hear regional differences and informal constructs that "lessons" typically eschew. Once a month, a new song to sing is good teaching/learning while connecting to pop culture.

Grazie, Manu! I love this new approach. One observation as I make my way through the video: The text graphics at 3:31 read: E ANCHE SE LA STRANA E' IN SALITA, whereas you say: ... se la STRADA ... (Clearly "strada" is correct!) (A minor one at 6::37: the translation reads "looked out" instead of "locked out." Less important when the slip is in English!) I was pausing the video between phrases to translate on my own before you spoke and just happened to notice. This was so helpful (and entertaining!) The colloquialisms and shortening of words (e.g., "che" for "perche"), among other interesting details, were new to me. Love "prendo a calci" for kick and your delicate handling (no pun intended?) of "coglioni"! Bravissimo! Cari saluti, e grazie ancora!

What an awesome way to learn Italian! In the 90's I translated lots of songs from English to Spanish and that really helped me to become fluent! That line about the rapids reminded me of a song from Genesis, "Lamb" lp. I know they used to be really hugely popular in Italy. P.F.M.'s singer (I used to have some of their lps), Bernardo Lanzetti, sounded a lot like Peter Gabriel. "Chocolate Kings" is a good one by them.
