I gotcha, well to each their own! If you're looking for a bag that will help you tote that thing around look up the Think Tank Street Walker Pro, it actually has a flap that comes down in which you can fasten your monopod/tripod straight to the bag itself. I've found versatiles uses for this monopod and even found myself using it as a make shift shoulder rig by buying an additional pan handle for the fluid head. Why they just didnt just call the fluid head the 701 is still beyond me. good talk!

Hi, if I stated that it was meant only for photo that should be incorrect as it is used for both and does well in both areas. The versatility makes this very adaptable to any situation and is really a fantastic piece of equipment. As for why I didn't remove the fluid head, it is because I actually use the pan handle as a "hook" to attach to my Kata Photo bag. Also I actually use the pan handle and it gives me one more point to rotate. But mainly as a carrying hook haha.

I like pretty much a lot of what you said except for the fact that you think it's for photo and not really for video. It's actually advertised as a VIDEO monopod. I've used this on several occasions for both photo and video and it's extremely versatile. If you haven't already seen "deconstructing the story // a monopod tutorial" then google it. That video sold me and I haven't looked back since. Why dont u just unscrew the fluid head and place the ballhead on the 1/4 20 thread? It looks weird.

When taking a few of the clips I had forget to lock the exposure settings correctly as it was a bit different on video for the K-30 vs the K-x. The later clips near the end are correctly exposed.

How comes that someone who is testing this sort of gear still uses the automatic exposure function?

Dude - If you're going to review the unit, you should at least include the number one feature that the company incorporated into it's design. This monopod was specifically designed with video shooters in mind. The power of this monopod is that it has a FLUID BASE for smooth side to side panning during VIDEO shoots. Why didn't you mention that in the review? This monopod is overkill for stills photo work - it's for VIDEO !!!!!!

Frank overkill for stills? That's like saying the dude with one leg in a wheelchair is overkill. It's a great tool for the pro dlsr's for still shots due to its qaulty build.
