I recommend you read Hana-Kimi (Hanazakari no Kimitachi he) by Hisaya Nakajo. It has an amazing storyline, and amazing art. It also has lots of comedy-type stuff in it. My favorite characters are definitely Nakao, Kayashima, Nakatsu, Mizuki, Yujiro, and uhhh... Yeah almost all of them- Needless to say, I'm in love with this series and I absolutely recommend it! I hope you can give it a try! (It's an older series, so idk if it's available in physical form, but I'm pretty you can find it somewhere online)

I've been meaning to collect Oresama teacher, I've had the first 4 volumes for literally a couple of years now and I loved them so I'm going to be trying to get that series soon. I don't see it too often in others collections so it's nice to see. Also I haven't seen anyone else own any volumes of Here is Greenwood. Other than that good luck and happy collecting.

Great collection. I'm surprised by some missing titles--no Ai Yazawa titles, Nana or Paradise Kiss? Great CLAMP collection but no X or Tokyo Babylon, both of which, while old now, to me are peak CLAMP. Please Save My Earth? (OK that's hard to find now...) Love to see Banana Fish--I'd recommend checking out some of the classics by Moto Hagio who is in Japan known to be basically the queen of shoujo for a good reason. The translations are expensive and go out of print VERY quickly (try finding Heart of Thomas for under 400 bucks now) but Poe Clan and the surprisingly great Otherworld Barbara should be easy to find... And speaking of shoujo classics, there's Rose of Versailles... But what am I talking about--I am insanely jealous of the books you have that I don't.
@GeekyDreams3 жыл бұрын
There’s so many recommendations there it’s fantastic! I’ve watched part of the NANA anime and loved it but for whatever reason never picked up the manga I know it’s an absolute classic so need to get on that at some point. When it comes to CLAMP I’m slowly making my way to getting all their series I’m waiting on finding some deals to pick them up☺️ Please Save My Earth is currently on my wish list along with Basara and Red River however I definitely feel like they’ll probably forever stay on the wish list cause how darn expensive they are😢 I don’t think I’ve checked out anything by Moto Hagio so I’m going to look into that mangaka for sure. Hopefully I find a series I like ☺️☺️ Thank you for watching and commenting I’m definitely going to checkout some of these titles ☺️
@EricMontreal223 жыл бұрын
@@GeekyDreams Thanks for your reply! I only discovered your youtube videos the other day but have already watched several hours... They're a lot of fun and you've persuaded me to check out some titles I was on the fence about. The frustrating thing about Nana of course is, due to illness, it still hasn't been finished... But the ending place is pretty satisfying and if you liked the anime it's a no brainer (also, due to good sales, I think Viz has kept it all in print). Ai Yazawa's only other titles in translation, Paradise Kiss, is now available complete in an affordable omnibus with colour, etc (which I really need to upgrade to--I still have the old 5 volumes from TokyoPop). I have no idea, since both have been big sellers int he West, why her other titles haven't been translated like Gokinjo Monogatari which, while aimed at a younger audience, is the prequel to ParaKiss). X of course also has been on hiatus for ages, though again it's really worth a read and I still think is the ultimate CLAMP (at least of their more mature titles). The 3-in-1 editions from Viz are beautiful and a relatively affordable way to collect it (and I still need to upgrade to the last two of those too... ^^;;). Sadly Tokyo Babylon--its prequel-- is out of print--both from Tokyo Pop and Dark Horse's omnibus but with the upcoming TV anime I suspect that could change just like how Vic reprinted Banana fish due to the anime. Yeah, I realize Please Save My Earth is a pretty hard get right now--out of print and long. I really wish I had been more on top of things with Basara--I didn't have much spending money at the time and only got the first few volumes (though I did read the whole series from the library in French). And now they're pretty obscure... (Man, it can be frustrating being a collector). Speaking of--do check out Moto Hagio. It seems like you like a lot of the more classic stuff and there's a reason she's the most revered and awarded shoujo manga-ka ever (which you wouldn't know judging by how few of her works are translated since the companies don't seem to know how to market her). What has been translated is long out of print, and some of it, like the English Heart of Thomas (the first shonen-ai manga) now goes for prices like half a grand. But art-comic company Fantagraphics are committed to annual releases of deluxe volumes of her stuff and their more recent stuff is still easy to find (though won't be for long) like her two 500 page volume hardcover 2000s work, Otherworld Barbara (which is intense and amazing) and one of her first classics from 1972 (and, even before Anne Rice, probably the first romanticized fictional take on vampires) The Poe Clan which has one volume out, with a forthcoming final volume due in about a year. Just good her name and you should be convinced how essential she is to any shoujo fan (if it sounds like I'm really pushing her, it's cuz I am!) Thanks again for your reply, and the great videos!

So I want to read on shojo. What series would you recommend? Not looking for a big series but more like a 10-15 volumes. Thank you
@GeekyDreams4 жыл бұрын
It all depends on they type of series you want to read so I'll recommend a couple of series: Ao Haru Ride Synopsis: Futaba Yoshioka thought all boys were loud and obnoxious until she met Kou Tanaka in junior high. But as soon as she realized she really liked him, he had already moved away because of family issues. Now in high school, she meets Kou again, but is he still the same boy she fell in love with? If you like a bit of a love triangle with some drama then have a go at Ao Haru Ride by Io Sakisaka. Io Sakisaka has absolutely beautiful art work and the story it's self is really enjoyable. Also it's a series complete at 13 volumes. Ceres Celestial Legend Synopsis: Aya and her twin brother Aki thought they were going to a celebration of their sixteenth birthday at their grandfather's home, but the funeral-like atmosphere tips them off that something's not right. Their 'birthday present' turns out to be a mummified hand - the power of which forces an awakening within Aya, and painful wounds all over Aki's body. Grandfather Mikage announces that Aki will be heir to the Mikage fortune, and Aya must die! But Aya has allies in the athletic cook and martial artist Yûhi, and the attractive, mysterious Tôya. But can even two handsome and resourceful guys save Aya when it's her own power that's out of control? This series is done by You Watase another one of my favourite mangaka's. If you like something a little darker with some romance and a hint of mystery then I'd give this one ago. However this is an older shoujo series so some may say the art style is a look 'old', but please don't let that stop you from giving it ago. Also this series is complete at 14 volumes. Ouran High School Host Club Synopsis: One day, Haruhi, a scholarship student at exclusive Ouran High School, breaks an $80,000 vase that belongs to the "Host Club," a mysterious campus group consisting of six super-rich (and gorgeous) guys. To pay back the damages, she is forced to work for the club, and it's there that she discovers just how wealthy the boys are and how different they are from everybody else. For teen audiences. Although this series is complete at 18 volumes it's definitely worth a read. The anime is absolutely hilarious. The manga is equally as funny plus it's complete unlike the anime. I hope my recommendations are helpful ☺️☺️

@@jaleeckflathead9640 A Shoujo series that I recommend is definitely Hana-Kimi (Hanazakari no Kimitachi he) it's really good, but it's 23 volumes. I really like it and the art style is just *chef kiss* however, the author/artist's art style changes around volume 14. But that's just my opinion. Anyways, it's really well written and holds the spot as my favorite manga series. I absolutely recommend it, and hope you can give it a try! (Idk if it's available in physical form, but I'm pretty sure you can find it somewhere online) (It's also a bit of an older series)

I've seen the Cardcaptor Sakura anime (it was too good) , so maybe I'll read that but I dunno, are there any other Clamp manga that you would reccomend that you think is better than Cardcaptor Sakura? Because I kind of want to read something I don't know of, but by Clamp
@GeekyDreams4 жыл бұрын
Hmmm if your not much of a Shojo reader than I’d say maybe Magic knight rayearth it’s a magical girl mech. It follows 3 teenage girls as they are transported from Tokyo tower to the magical land of Cephiro. They are then told they must save Cephiro from the evil Zagato. This series was written in the 90s so be aware that the art style may look slights dated however I personally looove the series! Cardcaptor Sakura is a fantastic series to start with if you want to read a series by CLAMP.

Io Sakisaka is one of my favorite manga artists, Strobe Edge is really good, but I personally prefer Ao Haru Ride (I feel like the story was just developed better), and I can't wait to read Love Me, Love Me Not! I'm pretty sure Sensual Phrase has 18 volumes, so you're only missing the very last one. And if The Wallflower manga does actually have a lame ending (I dunno, haven't read it yet), I think the Jdrama is a decent substitute, if only for the fact that the main girl actually ends up with one of the guys.
