To be honest, I'd make fun of them seeing them have such style. Doesn't matter whatever the reason is, in psychological aspect, it would always means they have a thing to hide. Why? Plot twist, Rikako is actually into the whole isekai harem thing, and she, and the other girls, form a legitimate harem with Ayato, that is, AFTER Rikako chewed them out over their behavior, and then made them apologize for not standing up for him. However, the girls showed that they really couldn't do anything because Suzuki and Ichi had a lot of dirt on them, and then Rikako fixed THAT problem REALLY quickly with those two boys. Eventually, Suzuki and Ichi were exposed as real big time scumbags that had committed all sorts of crimes, and so they got expelled, and then did some serious prison time. Unfortunately, things did not end up well for them, and so prison justice took root in their lives. Now, on graduation day, the girls, Rikako included, promised to always be with Ayako, and to also help him in his life as, by that incident where Ayako got caught in the rain, that gave the other girls the opportunity to escape the evil grip of Suzuki and Ichi, plus they genuinely felt sorry for Ayako, and then they truly fell for him as well. Five years later, after going to the same university, Ayako, and his harem, all married in the appropriately named nation of Chad, and now they are living their best lives together.
