Yeah... this was the one title match where Ippo just absolutely DOMINATED his opponent. You more or less got everything. Though some things that were missed in the MMV from the manga: 1. Itagaki points out how Karasawa's last punch, a left hook to escape to escape the corner, was textbook outboxer theory that both he and Kimura have used many times before. Basically showcasing how Ippo is truly becoming an expert at taking out outboxers. 2. Sanada acted as cornerman and is our main point of view for Karasawa's corner. As Karasawa went down, Sanada actually almost threw in the towel but was stopped by the head coach. Karasawa was actually heartbroken after the match since he thought that he was so weak he couldn't even pull out the dempsey roll from Ippo, but Sanada points out that Ippo was not holding back, and that the man Karasawa faced was Makunouchi Ippo at his most dangerous, a passionate boxer who sought to evolve and grow past the Dempsey roll. Karasawa would later thank the coach for sparring his feelings and letting him finish the match on his own terms. 3. This match is a precursor to the Itagaki Imai match, and Itagaki was looking over this fight to get an idea on how some of his tactics might work against Imai. Since Ippo absolutely destroyed Karasawa, Itagaki is forced to rework his strategy from scratch to counter Imai.

This is a practically perfect defense of ippo. He used the dempsey as a feint and took no damage. Thank you so much for reacting to this amazing manga! ^^
@beaulavin84552 жыл бұрын
The thing is ippo put a seal on the Dempsey roll after the sawamura fight because he realized he was so reliant on the Dempsey Roll that Ippo had to start boxing the way he us to

Yes! I'm loving Manga-nouchi Monday already. Keep it up!
@arturohartooro73692 жыл бұрын
Hey, I love that you're doing this. I will be checking back every monday for more of this! Since you asked, here are my suggestions: - Don't refrain from pausing the action and giving a breakdown of the techniques on your own experience. Watching a martial artist's take is the most important part imo. - The problem with the MMV besides there being some fights missing is that they don't leave in the fighters in their corners, and the perspective of the seconds, the audience, etc. I think there is great value being lost there and it'd be a good idea to react to the manga by reading the fights at your own pace on any of the various websites that host it. The music adds some value, but it's not as important as getting a full picture of all aspects of the fight. That's all, thank you so much for doing this!

It is a shame that they edit out the corner talk with the coaches but also I checked out a full version of the Randy Boy vs Miyata fight ad its 5 1/2 hours long with all the corner talk and everything else so it might not always be feasible to do it with that unfortuately! However, it will give me some exciting extra details when I get around to reading the manga myself!

The "problem" with Hajime no Ippo is, we can sympathize with every character, even with the "villains" and in the end you just want everyone to win.

I'd highly recommend the Manga only fight right after this against Keiichi Take. It's heartwarming he originally wants to back down and not fight him. But after people basically start calling him a coward he steps up to the plate. The reason I love this fight he shows both his experience and his heart as a long time professional similar to Date. And even finds a unique counter to tear apart the Peekaboo style throughout the fight. Best part is it's not absurdly short or long a decent enough length of panels to analyze. And this weakness he finds to the style is simple enough yet highly effective. And it's not some outboxing counter strategy like Sawamura. And it's not standard infighting the Dempsey Roll head on either like Shimabukuro. Though I will say it involved infighting sort of but not the kind Ippo's used to.

Second Comment: I made a playlist with all the english language MMVs I could find in chronological order (kzbin.info/aero/PLy6pizAGNUqo0OqOlhdJdWO8RuW7KLAy2 ). I know URLs in comments are always scetchy but I didn't know how else to share it (if you'd rather have it as a dm let me know). A few comments: - I started after the anime and excluded the 2 fights we already watched in manga form - I added 1-2 'connective tissue' video for what happens after the fight or in between for context. These are few minute snippets that imo help prime the fights/mood. Feel free to skip. - As you said quite a few fights are only available in spanish. A lot of them a minor, notable 'losses' are Ippo VS Malcom Geedo & Ippo VS Wally - I will keep adding to the list till we're up to date but it's a solid bit of work so I'll do it over time 😅
@BurridgeMartialArts6042 жыл бұрын
thank you so much! I have bookmarked this playlist and will come back to check it out for updates! You are Awesome!
@DarkHarlequin2 жыл бұрын
@@BurridgeMartialArts604 My pleasure 😊 2 quick things to add: - I added a 2 small videos (chapter 1149 before & 1153 after) which are not a fight at all but strongly inform the Ippo fight and are more about the psychology and consequences of fighting. This is a BIG theme in the series from a certain point on, it's hard to convey in fight mmvs but I thought I'd put at least that it in there. Your call if you view it or not 👍 - The 'Takamura VS Keith Dragon' fight in there only exists in spanish but I managed to kind of 'reconstruct' it in its own playlist here in english kzbin.info/aero/PLy6pizAGNUqrs3R8-lvIx7M1TmZEiH9MF Just if you want.

About the pacing there are people out there who purposefully slow down the rate of panels in their MMVs to let you follow the text and the action more easily Vaske1234amv has one of the highest quality MMVs out there but I don't think he has the earlier fights sadly. Julian is another great Channel for slower paced Panels like this match which is Mashiba vs Sawamura one of the best from the Manga IMO kzbin.info/www/bejne/jJO4qmeBrtmencU&ab_channel=Julian
