I originally intended to just scrub the timeline skim the recommendations and dip,but the editing, and sincere discussions of each manga was ...indeering,like hearing a random acquaintance on a open bus seat recommend their favorite books to read(haven't had those since well the virus).I really enjoyed the sincereness of the recommendations and the excitement of describing their characters worlds felt infections ,particularly the last book.Ajin has been on my radar for a few years, but never gave it a shot(the way its described sounds like my jam). Thanks for the recommendations and have a good one.

Out of these series, so far I've only read Boys Run the Riot and Kaiju no. 8 and absolutely love them. I plan on checking out a bunch of these series. Specifically Kasane, Heavens Design Team, and A Sign of Affection. My grandparents are deaf and they grew up in a time where support for deaf people was basically non existent, so it's always nice to see stories about both the struggles, but also the joy that deaf people obviously feel. They're humans just like anyone else and that often gets lost in stories exclusively about how society as a whole treats deaf people. Many stories make deaf people feel like props even in stories that are ostensibly about them. Really can't wait to check that one out.

I would also like to recommend Houseki no Kuni (Land of the Lustrous) which is literally an underrated gem, it's basically about sentient gemstones that fight with "moon people" so they don't get harvested by them and turn into jewelry, the story follows phosphophylite (or just Phos) in her quest to become useful to her family despite being one of the most fragile gems among them,it seems simple enough but believe it's not, things will get more CHAOTIC as the story goes on. And just to make it clear, all of the gemstones are genderless, which shouldn't be a reason for liking/disliking the manga but everyone likes to bring it up and It also has a decent 3d anime adaptation.

I've finished reading Yokohama Shopping Log (Yokohama Kaidashi Kikō in Japan) yesterday and it's certainly a must read. It's very cozy and warm story despite being set in post-post-apocalypse where some unknow event raised the sea level and human population declined a lot and is basically endangered species at this point. Could you also make another recommendation that focuses on Interesting Manga Panels and other things aspiring mangakas can learn from?

@@linesinmotion Thanks again! I'm truly looking forward to every new upload you make. I even go over your previous videos to try to inspire myself again. I especially love the Witch Hat Atelier video and the Queer-related one. Really loved the last one. Change is slow, and almost unnoticeable here, but I hope things change here for the better

Your videos on Witch Hat Atelier and Blue Period got me to read them, and now they're two of my favorite manga, so I welcome more recommendations! I need to read: A Sign of Affection - I have gotten a lot more into romance lately. When hearing about this series I perhaps inevitably thought of A Silent Voice, a series I felt let down by when I finally read it. This sounds quite different, though, and one of my favorite themes to explore in romance is communication; I'll definitely check this one out. Doughnuts Under a Crescent Moon - This is another no-brainer for me: another of my favorite themes in romance is the importance of self-love. It's one of the themes at the core of one of my favorite manga, I Want to Hold Aono-kun so Badly I Could Die, an underappreciated horror-romance I can't recommend enough. So, Doughnuts sounds great, and I can't wait to get into it. Ajin - This sounds like a pretty interesting dark action series; I've seen it recommended by staff at my local bookstore, and since it's got your rec too I'll give it a go. Kasane - This brought back memories. I'd read Kasane for a time through scans back when it was first coming out, and was very compelled by the psychological horror and themes of identity, and self-loathing (shout-out again to Aono-kun). At some point, though, I stopped reading, never saw anyone talking about it, and forgot all about it until watching this video. Thank you for bringing it back to me, and I'm eager to return to it. Would be nice if it had a physical release tho! Heaven's Design Team - This sounds just plain funny, and I've already placed the first volume on hold at my local library. I'm already reading: Boys Run the Riot - I'm nearly through the first volume and it's really quite engaging. I've never understood fashion, and I think I'm starting to get the appeal of it as an expressive art form, and its connection to identity and power. It's also nice to see a trans male protagonist, which I can't recall seeing maybe in any fiction, let alone manga. My local library has the complete series, so I'm looking forward to reading the whole run. Kaiju No. 8 - I've been current on it through the Viz Shonen Jump website since it started. I'm not as high on it as most but it's still a good action time. Medalist - I need to catch up but I really love Medalist. The themes of it never being too late to go for your dreams, or to develop and pursue new ones, hits personally, as does the value of empowering and supporting children to feel safe asking for what they want. I would add this series to my bookshelf in a heartbeat if it wasn't stuck in digital-only purgatory! Thanks for another great video, and I'm looking forward to the next!

Ahh, i'm so happy to hear you love both WHA and BP! I consider that a big achievement haha. Andtruth be told, I wasn't the largest fan of A Silent Voice either, but A Sign of Affection I feel deals with certain themes a lot better. Going by your taste, I'm 100% sure you'll enjoy Doughnuts! I hope you end up enjoying HDT and Ajin though! Both are very different series but were fun to read nonetheless! It's always lovely to see more people who have read Boys Run the Riot and Medalist too!

Didn't expect Kasane to be so tragic... On so many fronts.

I’m asking as someone who wants to learn and tell stories better, how, or does, Boys Run the Riot handle a trans character and his struggles better than the mainstream Western Comics that’ve been trying so hard to? I’d love a good comic that’s also good representation, but I’m not sure what that looks like.

Hmm, I'd argue that there's the context of the mangaka himself being trans which leans to a much more accurate portrayal of a trans character and Ryou's issues. I haven't actually read many western comic that have trans characters as the leading role, so this was definitely a change
