It's fine! Start with the translated version, and learn Japanese along the way like I do :)

There are thousands of series made in English. I don't mean translated, I mean made. Nobody talks about it much, but japan isn't the only manga producers in the world. There's plenty of Korean, Russian, and American series which kick all the butt! ^^ You can find most, if not all, of the American-made manga online too.
