Enjoyed that, used to visit Ladies club for my Karate Class as a kid. The light house in Tagore Park looks bit moot with them massive buildings overshadowing it. I remember them being turned on when I was young. Is the Central Library still open? I think I still have the Library cards somewhere. I also see my father's friends house is now flats. Hotel Roopa looks like it has work done on it and looks bigger than my memory serves me and my tailors Apsara Tailors are still there next to Don Bosco hall. Will have to visit that place and say hello to him when I am next in M'lore. Only Vimal is still there, remember visiting that place to get cloth pieces and then heading to Apsara Tailors to have them stitched. Anyway enough of my rambling, enjoyed the video and thank you for sharing.

Wow, your memories of your younger days in M’lore looks so nice! Roopa Hotel has expanded but most of the then famous shops like Shaila collection, Children’s Corner, Cooptex etc have disappeared or shifted . Phalguni Cashews is still there! Tagore Park is also now has completely new look. The fate of The Central Library I don’t know. I saw it’s door is shut most of the time! Only Vimal is in tact at the same spot. Tailors, Apsara, Grandwear, Veera, are all now history.. You were a wonder kid of those days having various training activities like Karate, Cricket, NCC etc. ( as per your previous comments!) Plus never missed famous Hindi & Kannada & of course English movies too! Really wonderful childhood… Thanks for the nice comments & sharing your memories of Kudla . 😊

@@seeingisbelieving1016 Central Library was very good as I used to go there in summer and October holidays to borrow books to read. There was not much entertainment in M'lore when I was young, we had 10 talkies. Amrit and Platinum were far and Balaji had dodgy malayalam moives, so most of the talkies we visited was New Chitra/Prabhat/Suchitra/Central/Roopavani and Ramakanthi. The population was small, circa 200k I think and social activities for us kids was Cricket/Karate and Movies. :) it was a golden era.

Also I see Bata shop has moved it was on the top of the private bus stand and it was also the taxi stand for cars to Bantwal/BC road which moved up to where the Masjid is. Is this service to Bantwal still running or gone bust?

Yes, Bata now shifted to KSRao Road opposite old Vishw Bhavana ( at old Shriram Pharmacy!?) Rental car services between Mangalore & Bantwal, very less, shifted to Bavutagudde area. Light house hill road is now Mulki Sundarram Shetty Road. Balmatta Road ( Hotel Roopa )and this Road became the first oneway traffic routes in Mangalore and eventually most of the Shops & establishments suffered & closed business.

@@seeingisbelieving1016 Ram Pharmacy ? I don't think it was Shriram Pharmacy. I think they moved from there, There was also Padakanya (sp) stores. My mother reckons, the Ram Pharmacy moved to Yeyadi from there (she is not sure)
