Another option is the curves workbench, sketch on surface and the project on the part workbench. I will be covering some of those shortly for v1

Which method to use may be decided by engineering specs. Getting Freecad to generate specific dimensions can be challenging. A full explanation of construction line techniques including the ability to toggle construction lines into functional lines. Cudo's to the development team for the improved line length & angle display.

Firstly - THANK YOU! Is there any way/trick to use "create external geometry" when working with/on datum planes? Imagine the centre of the circle you've created at 11:48 needs to be exactly XX mm from the outer edge.

At15:20 you change the Attachement Offset in x-direction, but (that's my view of things), the circle moves in y-direction. I noticed this quite often, especially when repositoning sketches, the direction of movement or axis of rotation has nothing to do with the orientation of the global axis. Can we somehow visualize the local axis, in case that might have a orientation different from the global axis, or is there a general definition or explanation how to find the actual oritation of the sketch we want to move? Thanks.

One problem is how to attach a sketch tangent to a curved surface. The Tangent Plane Map Mode requires a vertex at the attach point. The best way I've found to do this parametrically is to use the Curves Workbench Segment Surface Tool. This provides a vertex (vertices) to attach to that can be moved around with the KnotsU and KnotsV parameters.

Thank you! But I only managed to attach the sketch once. Next time I try undo it ~ there sometimes a mistake message. Sometimes not. And it does not pad. "Points are collineas"

Thank you very much Darren, however I feel it is tsill notvery intuitive. Why is it not possible to use 3 vertices. There order determines everytihing. I have been trying to use 3points etc. but still have the problem that the normal is not in the direction I expect it to be. For instance O-X-Y, in that order (assuming positive for X and Y) should result in a sketch plane one expects.
