Your videos are great! Just got into freecad. If i may suggest a tutorial for fc 1.0 i would say adding textures to objects because there is no info regarding this, except for old solutions like arch texture that no longer work

Honestly, my biggest issue with FreeCAD is that it's such an unbelievable pain to navigate, and the selection of colors just looks like it was made intentionally unintuitive and to be as painful as possible to the user. This was very helpful though, as I'm getting into 3D printing and I keep finding models that aren't quite what I need but like 90% of the way there. Every tool to do models though is just like someone wants my teeth more than I do and they've unleashed their tools on me to get them.

Before this video, I have watched your several videos and I was happy to find your channel. But this video gave me a feeling that I have been taught by the founder of FreeCad. Many thanks and I truely appriciate your efforts. You are doing something special for life. Keep going.

not sure how I feel about the external geometry, it would be nice if the default was construction geometry.

Is it possible to see local coordinates of a part or sketch?

My 10 year old key fob works fine. The new one (purchased from the dealer for the same vehicle) works for a month or so. How can it get more dirty/corroded than the original 10 year old fob?

What I just love is, that they're really focussing on "bread and butter" features, that determine the usabilty of the software.

Nice video. I don't know a python, but i understand of the meaning. Thank you for sharing. (few details: never mix construction method and business logic. And, one method has to have one purpose, so create: constructor, method for setup a layer and method for processing a change of slider's value. It doesn`t matter if the method will have a three lines. In a future (after two-three years), you will have less troubles with understanding of the code and making changes of it)

I ran through all the tutorial till here and now I found that assembly workbench did not work this way in Freecad 1.0 (stable). I have to watch another tutorial. then I must have return to your playlist. It is not only a tutorial the way you explained in different ways. You taught a strong basic to make complex modeling.

So I’ve bought v4 nano shield! I’ve done all you can do besides modify the board! You talk about supplying 5v to each stepper driver! My boards all have jumpers but all go to ground! I’ve seen a instructables that shows placing jumpers across to 5v but they are not elaborate enough to know if you need to cut traces to make this all work without frying things. Do you have documentation or pictures showing you what you did to get this all to work?

I bought a 3D printer in August this year (2024), so I am totally new to the world of 3D Printing. I muddle my way through but whenever I am stuck, I always find what I need to know in at least one of your videos. I only follow your channel because you are so clear and concise and very easy to follow. Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge and making 3D Printing so much easier and so much more enjoyable. I used this method to create circular text and was able to Engrave the text in the CAM workbench. However, I have been unable to replicate the action. I've tried several times to Engrave a Shapestring mapped to a surface but FC does not allow me to select it for the Engrave function. Like I said, I have a file that works and so i am baffled. I'm hoping that there is a new and better solution to map Shapestring text to a curve and that works better in the CAM Engrave function. Can you make a suggestion?

Liked & subscribed! Just learning FreeCAD as I begin to transition from Sketchup. I'm wary of Sketchup's path towards a future paywall, so I want to invest all my design time into a CAD program that will remain free & open source forever. Designing & sharing in FreeCAD will enable me to share my designs freely with all of humanity, not just those with money to burn. Your presentation style is excellent, so I'll be re-visiting frequently to develop my FreeCAD skills as quickly as possible.

Thanks. This is the easiest to understand explanation for external geometry. It brings an external object-part into the working sketch. Never understood it until this video.

When you're duplicating, why don't you use the "Use Original Selections" button rather than manually unchecking?

I'm loving the new freecad 1.0 update, it's so close to being my Go-To CAD software. I often find myself going back to SolidWorks though because of FreeCad limitations, while I was working on a design for a dust collection port for my Miter saw freecad kept graphically glitching out when doing some of the fillets, solidworks had no issues with this, as well as while making a part for a Boot/Glove dryer to divert air, freecad just simply could not shell out the part, again solidworks had no issues here. It seems FreeCad struggles with curved shapes, another example is I Was making a bowl for a small water fountain, using the exact same steps in FreeCad and SolidWorks, Freecad couldn't shell the object and SolidWorks had no issues.

Is it possible to see what each vane would look like, if we wanted to cut it from a flat sheet?

Interestingly, in release 1.0.0 I do not see the Start workbench. Edit: looks like they've done away with this in 1.0 (according to the wiki). F in chat.

I made Cut. I made Sketch on surface. And yes, I can Boolean. But when I add fillet on Sketch on surface ~ Boolean not possible! Why? 😢

i have a problem when i tried to use symmectric constraint on arc with line is is always redundant constrain, how to solve this problem?

Since in 1.0 the ruler is gone and the measure tool wont work on images, I have resorted to using the drafting workbenches dimensions tool (With its odd Double Click points) to verify the Calibrated image. Any Alternatives ?
