The rule of thirds is quite misrepresentative in its interpretation because it implies the existence of rules in Photography, of which there are none. The so-called rules are just guidelines that you can choose to follow or disrespect. They might work in some cases but not every time. You should capture what looks good to your eye and what speaks to your heart. That's what I think anyway. Great video! Subscribed!

A conceptual photoshoot. Sometimes, if the photo breaks the rules but filled with emotion, why not! Framing depends on what spacial are you explaining. Brilliant tool! Focus can definitely create the story.

Love this! The main purpose of all the rules is to correctly communicate what you're trying to communicate. If breaking the rules helps that, then go for it. If it doesn't communicate and you're just simply calling it a "style" well thats just being lazy. lol

we did a couple of videos showing setting up our studio and a “four photographers shoot the same” challenge where we used wallpaper from the same place for the set design. youtube hasn’t been showing our new videos to subscribers for awhile now, but the wallpaper is about two years old, so you probably haven’t been served our videos for awhile. lots of really fun ones in the last two years to watch if you’re interested!

1) You cannot break rules, where there are no rules. 2) In photography -if we are talking photography as an art form- there has never been rules. There has been mere guidelines that make sense. You can bend them intentionally if they serve to a purpose and make more sense, or propose a new way of saying to make a better/different sense. 3) Only idiots or ignorant people break the rules (or criminals). Smart people change the rules by offering new rules that work better, that make better sense. 4) Only pseudo or fake people (artists) break rules for the sake of breaking rules (if we use the word 'rule' interchangeably for referring to guidelines). 5) One must be successfully seasoned to be able to advise on that.

1. we’re not criticizing anyone. the examples of what not to do were intentionally shot by us. 2. there are rules. there are entire college degrees and centuries of art that reinforces them. you don’t have to follow the rules (the entire point of this video), but you have to know and understand them if you want to respect and be respected in the field. it’s the same for any art form.
