This kit is on my list to try as I love Elvis Juice, really good detailed review. Just yesterday I made up a Mangrove Jacks Lemon Sour Gose, 24hours in the fermenter and it's going crazy, had to put in a blow off tube, and it's still trying to pop the top off the bucket there is so much pressure, really hope it calms down a bit lol.

Hi Grant very good video mate , i,m a big fan of the mangrove jack kits . And i wish the other companys who do beer kits would go over to pouch , lot cheaper if buying on line and i think better to use . Thanks , Ivan

Nice one Grant! Great to see this kit from start to finish and very cool to see you comparing it with the essence and commercial one. I have a mate who's just brewing this one up so I'll let him know about your vid. Cheers Dino 🍻

very interesting !! Great review just have started this kit today made a mistake by doing a reading after i put in the yeast it was 1035
@beerloverTV3 жыл бұрын
Should not have much effect unless you mean after fermentation. It should finish lower than that but may have stalled. At the end you want a stable reading to avoid bottle bombs of unfermented beer

Hi there, beginner here, I didn't see you use the hops...is that optional, and if so, when do you add them?
@beerloverTV6 жыл бұрын
If i recall its a dry hop so after intial fermentation you would add these

I agree EJ is a marmite beer though i quite like it,however at€4/330ml here it's a luxury treat. I've seen someone else doing this kit and they loved it also. Cheers.

It is top drawer i will say others have had it and said its plenty grapefruit even with my extract.But you know how it is when you get used to bitterness you forget what the norm is.But elvis juice has a edge.But today after a hot day at work dam this beer was amazing.

beerloverTV I do love Elvis juice (and the fact I can get it in Tesco's is nice!), but I think each of the grapefruit ipas brings something different to the table, so the more the merrier :p

Great video and review. I will definitely be buying this kit next. I'm a newbie to brewing, you mentioned the Elvis Juice is less bitter than this kit. Is there a way of overcoming this bitterness like reducing the amount of hops or adding a different variety maybe even adding some kind of sweetener to the kit to take away the bitterness and make it more like Elvis Juice ?
@beerloverTV3 жыл бұрын
Hello very tricky to say as i bet if i tried it now i would say different only issue is tasts is so perceptive you may taste it and think its spot on. As kits they all really are some of the best. Worth grabbing one and brew as is it may need no tweaking at all.

Cracking review of all three brews sounds a cracking kit, I’ve tried the MJ cider and I wasn’t impressed with it.
@beerloverTV6 жыл бұрын
Cheers steve weirdly i really enjoyed that cider.That said it was my first cider kit i had ever done.Cider kits dont seem to be a thing.No one seems to do turbo cider anymore either and weirdly had pics pop up on my facebook of what looked like turbo cider 7 years ago.

Just brewing this one and I have the grapefruit extract ordered.. The malt miller give a range of 0.3 - 0.7ml per litre. What quantity did you go with on this brew? Cheers!
@beerloverTV6 жыл бұрын
Hi there im sure i mentioned it in the video.I cant recall unless i rewatch.I know the malt miller has just changed the range of additives so maybe the dosage rate has changed but i thoaght it was 1ml per ltr.
@seanlyness846 жыл бұрын
Ah, just watched it again and you did indeed mention 1ml/litre, missed that 1st time round. Looks like the mm have changed the dosing.. Will look into it! Cheers!

would you rate this higher than cwtch?
@beerloverTV6 жыл бұрын
Thats a tough question.But probably yes.And i am about the review their Simcoe ipa and for me as a kit its as good as any commerical hopped beer i have had.
@danny060796 жыл бұрын
when you reviewing the simcoe?
@PXLJCE236 жыл бұрын
Just chuck some grapefruit peel in there like you would if you were dry hopping.... No need for grapefruit extract. That's what gives the real taste of fruit. Brewdog don't use extract. They use real fruit peel. That'll give you the freshness you are looking for. Buy 10 grapefruits. :D brewdogrecipes.com/recipes/elvis-juice-v2-0

MJ's need to rethink their Kit Packaging, it's a complete nightmare.
@beerloverTV6 жыл бұрын
Really i think its a great way for the kit to come.What issues have you had ?
@Elvis_Reboot6 жыл бұрын
It's impossible glean the contents fully, because you can't soak the Malt Packet/Tin in hot water to decrease the viscosity of the malt before opening because the yeast and hops are sealed in the packet, which might not be a practice in warmer climates but for some of us that live in cooler countries, it's common and best practice. Yes you can attempt to rinse it with very hot water after but because of the design of the packet with it's double pockets, it's quite unstable and that makes it precarious. Add to that once you cut the packet to remove the yeast, hops and destructions even being careful they can then end up sticky because the malt is then open as well and it's around the top of the packet. In my humble opinion it would be far better to have the two packets separate, maybe attached to each other some how so that they can be split, or have some sort of way of opening the pocket that contains the additions separately.

I have to be honest i havent found them to be a issue and think its more cost effective and better for the enviroment to have it all in one packet. What i do is get some glove strong rubber gloves that resist heat.I havent found the packet unstable even when full of boiling water.But what you could do is place the packet into a jug to keep it upright them fill with boiling water that you would use to top up.I then get a whisk and scrape as much of as possible this has always left mine with very little left in the packet. Also i cant say i have had the dry side get the malt into it.Maybe you had a faulty pouch.Its worthwhile contacting them direct as they are great at customer service.
