If every weapon has a chance to backfire, would that include cutscene battles or are they exempt from this effect? Also, a minor correction, but the Devil Axes and similar weapons always have a percentage point higher than what can be capped by Luck normally in their respective games. So in SS, it's 31% - Luck instead of 30%... And we all know how much of a difference 1% can make in Fire Emblem.

Tried this today, the ch1 boss crit himself to 1 hp but the game proceeded as normally (the green unit died, while taking 0 damage). Idk what happens if the boss actually one shots himself, game might freeze (happens in some examples of binding blade cutscene abuse)

Isn't there a Twin Relic that gives luck? if the unit have 26+Luck it would be the one unit immune to devil reversal.

@@mauricesteel4995 Ah, you're right. The Nidhogg bow would do just that in this mode if the Devil effects were not adjusted for it. On top of that, Fomortiis can technically go above Luck cap with Demon Light, but he's never anywhere close to reaching it by himself

A year late, I know, but no, a an attack cannot backfire in a cutscene, at least in the vanilla game. To put it VERY simply, a cutscene runs a script and checks if anything funky happens, and the script can even force how much damage you actually take.

Your content is absolutely amazing, keep up the awesome work! the coolest thing is that, a "all weapons have devil axe effect" mod makes the game very challeging and unforgiving: not only you cannot rely (or maybe, not even use) units that have high crit rate, a backfire would kill you, but especially in Fire Emblem 8, where enemies have very low hit rate overall (as i remember, if the attack misses, it can't backfire) and you double enemies all the time, the backfire affects you a lot more than the enemy, and you can't do what makes FE8 easy, dumping all the exp on one unit so it kills everything in one round; a very interesting way of making an easy game hard

By the by, recruitable green or blue units will always join at the end of a chapter if they just survive. Talking with them to get control of them during a chapter is optional. Only Joshua, Amelia, Marissa, Cormag, and Rennac need to be directly recruited or they will be missed entirely.

Not sure about Erika route And garcia won't join you if Ross dies. Not sure about the scenario of Ross recruiting him in chapter 2 and Ross dieing in the same chapter

Wouldn’t the best strategy have been to disarm the player units so the enemy would “break themselves” against the player units? Ex: disarming Gilliam and throwing him into the open to take small amounts of damage at a time against enemies, while he was supported by Moulder’s healing and healing items
