Say what you will about his fitness to advise about how and when to use the Devil Axe, I think Mangs certainly has the most footage of anyone on KZbin regarding it, both successes and hilariously timed backfires Although if I may offer some constructive criticism, any video about the Devil Axe is incomplete without Shadow Dragon's own translation of the Devil Axe village dialogue: "Oh, ho ho! Don't you look young and full of life! Such a warm smile here deserves a nice reward. Here, take this axe- this EVIL abomination of an axe! Beware! Its blade drinks blood and devours flesh. In thracia 776 there is a joke character named Marty. Marty is a brigand with growths that guarantee he caps luck and constitution, this allows him to wield the devil axe without speed penalty and without the chance of it back firing. Negative x negative =positive

uh, no. 90% of this comment is wrong. marty isn't GUARANTEED to cap anything; he just has a very high chance of capping luck and con due to his high growths (50% and 75%). there's a difference between "guaranteed" and "extremely likely". not taking a speed penalty also doesn't mean shit when you have 0 base speed and a 15% speed growth. marty is never doubling anything whether he gets weighed down or not, and with his base skill of 0 and growth rate of 10% coupled with the devil axe's hit of 50, good luck getting him to hit the broad side of a barn with that thing. also, do you not know how math works? the devil axe's backfire rate is 21-luck%, not 20-luck%. you always have a minimum backfire rate of 1% no matter what. even the luckiest characters have a very small but very real chance of getting fucked when they use it.

Since you mentioned that the Devil Axe's chance of backfiring in PoR was unchanged, that ironically means you can use it as a regular axe without any risks if your luck is high enough, as the cap is 40.

Each weapon type should have a "Devil" branch of weapons - they did that in the total overhaul "Dreams Of Five" for Fire Emblem 7.

As an update, we can use the devil axe once again in Fire Emblem Three Houses. In this game, the devil axe does not have a backfire percentage, instead, it only deal ten points of damage to the user every time he use it. In this game it could be obtainable at the Pagan Altar, in the DLC, but it also can be obtainable from a drop of an enemy at the side story "Rumored Nuptials" wich can be done between chapters 7 and 11 if you have Dorothea or Ingrid in your team. In Three Houses, the Devil Axe is at his highest value, a total of 1,300 and has his most number of uses, 30 uses to be exactly, it also has 18 mights wich it was more damage than a silver axe, but it also has more weight, 14 weight, it also has 60 Hit and 0 Crit.

I guess here's the best chance to share it, but I always thought it would be funny to see upgraded forms of the Devil Axe. Time for this video to be updated: Three Houses and Heroes brought this axe back, in differing ways. In Three Houses, anyone with a D rank in axes can use it, but it has a 60% hit rate and only 30 uses, with the tradeoff being 18 might, which is raised to 21 if reforged, but it only damages the user for 10 hit points. And in the 4.2.0 update of Fire Emblem Heroes, this is the personal weapon of Barst which during combat he gains Atk/Spd/Def/Res+4 but if he attacked it deals 4 damage to him, it is exclusive to him and when refined it gives him Wrath 3.

In FE7, you can use it quite safely to break walls. It hurts a lot on the backfire due to walls having 0 defense, but it means there's no enemy to deal with, and no way to crit yourself. It was super useful for gaining safe weapon exp that way.

Now the Devil Axe first appeared in Shouzou Kaga's mind. It looked and worked way different than it does now. Originally, the handle of the axe had spike that you would have to impale your hands on to hold it, and every time you hit it returned the damage receive by the enemy divided by 2. This was eventually changed, why is unknown. But for that, most are grateful.

The Devil Axe in Three Houses is really great. It works like the Berserker Axe, in that it deals 10 non-lethal damage to the user after every round of combat, which actually makes it a useful strategic tool for activating HP-based skills such as Vantage, Wrath, Balthus's personal ability, and the Defiant skills.

@@glitchwarrior7270 Not only was nosferatu at it's most powerful in Awakening (arguably), but it even had a more powerful clone in Aversa's Night. ..........Then in Fates, they not only made it the only dark tome available in the game, but they completely nerfed the shit out of it: you can no longer critical hit, proc attack skills (such as Luna or Rend Heaven, for example), and you can't double with it, either. And funnily enough, despite all that, it still maintains being a useful weapon, I guess because the ability to restore HP with each attack is pretty overpowered

The devil axe has always taken that last spot in my axe user's inventory. It's only to be used when no other axe would secure the kill, and it's a do-or-die situation. It can genuinely have only 2 durability and it's effect will remain the same

I gave one to Ogma in FE 12 just incase there's an enemy who happens to need the extra few damage points to finish off, and I didn't feel like using a more useful weapon.
