Just adding :P - Mechs are better in DoR because they're cheaper. 3k to 2.5K is huge - Dusters are good! It's an aerial anti-air unit, so it mostly eclipses the fighters. It can shoot infantry too! But don't have the missiles to deal with vehicles, and also are pretty frail. - So DoR doesn't _really_ has a joke unit like missiles in AW, some units are better than others of course, but nothing is so bad it has no use

@RunicRhino225 күн бұрын
Being able to traverse bridges and BB's being able to move and shoot on the same turn. (Kind of wish that rockets can do the same thing).
@4shadow1005 күн бұрын
@RunicRhino22 i disagree that rockets shooting and moving would be a good idea. Indirects, unless they're super expensive end match tier, should park themselves before shooting in order to make the game balanced. Battleships got the move and shoot buff since being glorified water rockets really doesn't make them that versatile, much like dor carriers not only producing a really good unit but also repair aircraft it stores makes it more justifiable for the high cost without making them broken. I also really like gun boats since they're cheap transports in addition to being able to do some damage to other naval units making them potentially a cost effective and versatile answer to a naval situation.
@larsdejong73964 күн бұрын
@@4shadow100 In general, indirects are much better in DOR, because there are no neotanks, and there are far more hiding spots in fog. Rockets really don't need to be buffed, they are totally balanced.
@SteelsCrow4 күн бұрын
I would also love to see some naval DoR. Playing on water maps against the AI, I found a very reliable routine. The AI is a fan of subs and makes one in pretty much every match where the sea must be crossed. So I get a cruiser after my second or third gunboat, and add more as I expand my navy. Very safe, then build a deathball and roll them over. Getting caught by a cruiser is so devastating for a sub that I expect human players to be more reserved with them, but I want to see that play out. I pretty much never use subs. Two cruisers covering each other provide the same benefits plus zoning out bombers and battle copters. Subs are good scouts, but so are cruisers. Subs can one-shot gunboats, but reveal their position by so doing. The existence of subs makes me clump my ships together, surrounding carriers and battleships with cruisers and gunboats. About battleships, in exchange for mobility, they are a lot less dangerous per shot than in older AW. Them and rockets deal about the same damage to each other and have the same range, so even though the BB always gets the first shot when playing well, getting caught by enemy rockets forces a retreat. They're also pretty rubbish without backup from gunboats, cruisers, and battlecopters since they still can't counterattack.
@larsdejong73964 күн бұрын
@@SteelsCrowI disagree that submarines are useless. They are excellent as part of the screen, since they cannot be targeted as long as their flanks are covered. And you also need them as a long-term solution vs battleships. (I always play deathless against the AI, so my navy is permanent. As such, gunboats don't interest me.)

"functionally win you the game" is a low bar.
@TheEmperorGulcasa4 күн бұрын
@@Tzizenorec Lin is maybe a bad comparison as she's also a CO with an extremely small co zone that thusly struggles to gain CO meter. Similar to Tabitha, she's one who struggles to gain zone and then usually just sits on it till the final push otherwise, as her field bonus is strong. Others who have a larger range like Brenner or Isabella will gain meter more regularly. Isabella is a big example because she has a lowish bonus and a strong CO power, so is encouraged to try to fire it often.

Days of Ruin is a little more in depth than other Advanced wars, I for one appreciate how much it encourages keeping units alive and how much the battlefield can center around either the CO unit or veteran units leading pushes, deciding which unit gets a kill to optimize unit rank ups and how to best deny kills to powerful enemy units.

Joining units into an experienced unit reminds me a bit of placing XP on units in wesnoth games. If a unit gets enough exp to level up they heal all their wounds and become a very powerful unit. So often strategy centers around trying to get units with XP to have further XP, and so you get games where one side is massively ahead on properties and throws away fodder to and enemy who is behind on economy but potentially has more ranked up units that can resist the hoard.

"It's *JAPANESE* " the disrespect to Chinese players.. Some notes on Tiny Wars: - You can play in English with mostly no problems. Just a few description are a bitty janky, but understandable. There's a helpful community of both English and Chinese players that will aid if you have any issues - There are a few user names that push the limit of comedy...if you know what I mean. It can be an issue streaming matches - Infantry are nerfed which is HUGE. That 0.5k extra makes a huge difference to the gameplay, IMO, for the better - To gain CO power/Energy you need conflicts IN your CO zone. Others don't matter. Also, energy is based on the HP damage, NOT cost. This means attacking infantry is just as good as attacking a tank for energy sake - The consensus is that getting Tabitha's power is pretty much a GG. Getting powers in DoR can be way more difficult than in AW, so it's not always a back and forth of powers

It's really fun if you like advance wars. The units are way more balanced, and the promotion and CO systems turn the strategy on its head. Core AW makes all your units feel very expendable, while DoR encourages you to keep key units alive. Individual engagements matter more, and smart play can shift the game in your favor more than it does in AW. It's actually good practice from breaking bad habits in the core series as well.

You'll notice some of Mangs habits from core AW show up in this match. For example leaning heavily into CO powers and when they'll be used, which is not as critical in DoR. Also "strong" and "weak" sides. In DoR the strong side tends to be wherever your CO and promoted units are rather than the number of bases. Notice that both players ended up prevailing on their "weak" side. Front shifting is also slower in DoR as well because of the CO being tethered to a unit. Last, with DoR good gameplay in the early and mid game can snowball more reliably than core AW with the stat boosts provided by promotion. It encourages more careful engagements during those phases and smaller errors in those phases can add up bit by bit, slowly turning the tide further against you. I like how it makes decisions across the whole match count more than a single timely push that core AW can sometimes come down to.

You can pop your CO power the turn you get it if you CO has not yet acted that turn its just hard to do because other units fighting in your zone doesn't charge it as fast.
@merabledawnspark58275 күн бұрын
20:11 Actually, small correction, but you don't have to wait for you to use your CO power. If your CO has not taken any action and you are still able to move, you can reposition and pop your CO power to give the global buff. You'll want that unit, however, available for movement. If you already moved/attacked, you can't pop in your CO power. 28:00 I think what it is that you select the unit as if you're moving and then highlight the unit that it is IN RANGE that you are planning to attack to see the firepower. 31:15 Dusters are actually useful in Fog of War. Just for those that don't know, Fog of War is a lot different that in the trilogy. See, before you even get a chance to move, you need to confirm first and then you can move. In the trilogy, during fog, you can... scout and see and then return back (useful if you are trying to find units in forests or stealth units). Sure you waste fuel, but scout information is a good trade off. DoR, however, they took that away. Now you need to confirm your movement first and then it moves. However, for every tile that unit moves, it can use its vision as a scout. Recons, especially, are VERY useful with their amazing vision. However, now you can't see in cities unless your unit is by it. This is where high mobility units come into play. You can scout each building by being by it and then give proper information what that area is like for your other units. Dusters have that capability to move around and scout. Without Fog of War, keep in mind a few things: One, it is amazing at attacking infantry units and two, they are flying really high up in the air, so not even copters can attack it. With that in mind, you can use Dusters to block movement from enemies since you need an anti air or a fighter to take care of it (or Sea Planes). With that high mobility, you can easily outrun a lot of units, though, so positioning and hit and runs are key for the dusters. Something I'm curious to see is if the Rig will ever get used. With the right position, Rigs can help out the other units more than just fuel with their ability. 36:10 And here might be a good example. Missiles got a buff, but still needs a bit of help. Rigs can indirectly help out with that. How? Well, they have the ability to make temp buildings. Once that's made, two things: In Fog of War, buildings act as a hide, so you can safely tuck in your units there. Also, because you replaced the plain tile with a building tile, they'll move faster on it.

One important thing to bear in mind with Dusters is that they can serve as a very viable screen for other air units. A Duster can take an Anti-Air hit OR Fighter hit and survive (barring any boost of at least 25%), so outside of something like Lin CO zone you won't be oneshotting a Duster compared to a Copter. I like to consider Dusters the "Tanks" of the Air units. They're Not too pricey, not too fragile, have good mobility, and good vision, but there's clearly better attackers (copters) and tech up options (fighters/bombers) than them later on. In a match where air units are playing a notable role, they're very useful to mix into your forces. Definitely not a "Always make this unit" kind of deal, but I think the meme reputation is more from the name than the actual functionality of the unit, since they're definitely a "jack of all trades" type unit, similar to the basic Tank, meaning it's not typically a Bad idea to make one, it's merely just that often there are more pressing things to invest funds on.

Example, 30% defense = 30% reduced damage, and 100% defense is enough to nullify all damage, no matter the attack strength. In AWDoR, 100% defense is the baseline, the defense boosts/penalties are added to that, and the end damage multiplier is (attack)/(defense). Example, if the enemy has 100% attack and the defender has 50% added defense, it's (100%/150%)=0.66 x damage. 100% Added defense would correspond to 50% defense in the old games, total damage nullification can never be reached, and like Mangs said, attack boosts can indeed perfectly cancel out defense boosts.

Days of Ruin contentis a nice change from AWBW. I wouldn't mind to see more off it.

I would love more of this game, I honestly think is has better gameplay than classic AW, however the sprites are a big downgrade, the less cartoony designs makes it harder to understand at a glance what is what. Mangs I would suggest you get more familiar with this tool and make a video showing the differences in presentation And gameplay, since most people have not played the game or used the site

Infantry were nerfed indirectly in AW4. The veterancy system and changes to CO powers discourage sacrificing units because it makes your opponent's units stronger. Probably how it should've always worked. No more sacrificing your Battlecopter on an Anti-Air to build CO power.

I'd like to see more Days of Ruin. It's interestingly different.

Dorchoras resign probably because his CO unit is gonna die by a 9hp bomber and a healthy anti-tank. And with the inclusion of Plague's War Tank to the right, his push may likely fail

Well, now I have to sign up for Tiny Wars, I guess.

Days of Ruin getting some love! I didn't like it initially when I switched to DoR after playing AW 1-3 as everything was too different, from art style to tone to gameplay, but it eventually it grew on me to become my favourite AW game. Imo it is superior in almost all aspects, especially gameplay. The addition of unit veterency and the removal of global CO buffs makes the game so much more fun, and the new unit roster is great as well.

The CO unit mechanic makes me think it shows its after the Warcraft 3 era from 2002 since after that game some turn base or real time strategy games decided to borrow that "hero" unit mechanic.

Do Dorchas CO zone gives 80% fire power (100%+60%+20%)? Or does it give 92% fire power (1.0*1.6*1.2)?
@Mangs13375 күн бұрын
The zone gives +60/+60. The CO unit ranks up for an additional +20/+20.

I would love to see more Days Of Ruin matches, and especially more fog matches on both AWBW and Days Of Ruin. Thank you.
