I used to think that manaketes were overpowered too, but they're sadly poor units in Awakening. Low speed and limited weapon access make them less than optimal, especially on higher difficulties where their speed caps prevent them from doubling. Of course, anyone is viable in a game with limitless grinding, and manaketes do have 1-2 range (looking at you, taguel).

I agree, Nah is very underrated. She's cute, has a tragic backstory, is pretty interesting, and can be shaped into one of the strongest units in the game. I cannot recommend marrying Nowi to Lon'qu or Virion, however.

Can I just say that approaching Nowi with the attitude of "even if she is an adult, she is OBVIOUSLY ZOMG PEDO BAIT" is a very jaded outlook that does a disservice to her fans. I don't care for the immodesty of her outfit either, but she is a fun character, and petite adults do exist (my wife is 16 inches shorter than I am, and a year older). It is not appropriate to gauge someone's age by their height and breast size. Yes, I know, Heroes gave her the "Lachesis babyface" treatment, but her Awakening portrait gives her a fairly long and pointed facial outline not really fitting for a child. Now, I actually do consider Nah a child, mostly because Nah will refer to herself as such if it is in her own self-interest (vs the money-stealing Risen in DLC, for example). I also see her "dense" moments as Mangs puts it as an immature character trait. Nah isn't necessarily mean, but she has a very childlike blend of naivete and selfishness about her personality. She's not really perceptive of much of anything beneath the surface, which leads to her having trouble relating to others and to her contempt for parental authority, and she changes her tune as to her own identity out of self-serving bias. Her naivete is also why Nah often treats marriage like something to be extorted out of someone, as if she was badgering them to share a cookie, she has no concept of how ugly and pointless forcing a one-sided relationship can be. This is all typical childish behavior that Nowi generally does not share; Nowi is just playful. That said, watching Nah threaten to eat Inigo is frikkin' hilarious, just because he deserves it.

I am not saying that there aren't other elements to Nowi's character just because she is pedo-bait, I am just saying that the pedo-bait aspect of her entire design is something I dislike, and it makes it hard for me to take her character seriously. I fully acknowledge that there's more to Nowi than just being a legal loli though.

That's not what I meant. Calling her pedo-bait creates a false sense of objectivity that the darker side of the FE fanbase uses to cannibalize itself. There's nothing wrong with not liking a design or even feeling uncomfortable about it, but you need to realize that you're effectively taking a Rorschach test. Where you look at a vague set of descriptors and see a child, many people do not. My mom sees a child when she looks at Delia Ketchum, and she's supposed to be the mother of a 10-year-old. Obviously, the objective measure of pedophilia is years of age. But for fictional characters age is an inherently more fluid concept, the facts are often left vague, and the whole thing is further muddied when talking about non-humans, so it becomes a question of what secondary characteristics one personally uses, consciously or unconsciously, to define a child. People who flip out over Nowi define a child by stature, passtime, or having an emotional and/or impulsive personality. But not everyone defines a child that way, especially if they already know other adults who fit the criteria (to varying degrees, of course; we expect anime style characters to be exaggerated). If you were to ask me how, age unknown, to define a child, I would tell you that a child's next most defining characteristic is how they perceive the world around them. Without going into too far of a tangent (much of it redundant with my first post anyway), Nah, Sakura, and Elise all fit that bill in my book. Nowi doesn't. I don't see Nowi as a "child who is technically legal," that's not even a part of her character to me. I just see her as short and eccentric. Now, Elise having S supports creeps the hell out of me. But, that's because of how I see her, and I'm not going to jump down anyone else's throats over my own perception. Anyways, great analysis as always, Mangs. These character spotlights are my favorite part of your channel by far, I get to dig deep into my favorites and also explore characters I didn't previously know so well.

Inigo might deserve what he gets from Nah in Awakening, but not so much in Fates, since he becomes a much more well-rounded character. It also bugs me that people so often judge Nowi because of the way she dresses, but I think it's short-sighted of people to give her a bad rep just for that. Nowi is actually one of the more complex characters in Awakening, honestly, and while her design might be pedo-bait, she was most likely forced to dress that way because someone who'd owned her in the past (don't forget, she was a slave after all) was turned on by it, and having her dress in such a skimpy outfit would've likely made it easier to sell her to someone else that was interested. Overall, I just feel like people make too much of a fuss about this shit; I've seriously seen people make edited versions of her outfit to make it less revealing and call it an "improvement" because of how disgusted they likely were by her original design.

More likely than not, Nah was actually just trying to see if what she was doing to Laurent would get her any attention. Plus she isn't really used to interacting with people all that much, and if their S rank support is anything to go by, she probably knew he had feelings for her (to a certain degree, anyways) all along. There's also the fact that she can be rather dense sometimes, too. I doubt she was actively TRYING to be creepy, so much as she was trying to see what she could get away with in a setting like that.

A lot of the S ranks supports would benefit from having a two-three parts S rank conversations, because supports like some of Nah's just have a massive and unnatural jump in relationship from A to S.

Nah is emotionally and socially stunted. She isn't socialized and has a lot of pent up energy and emotions. Remember that this is a teenager who has never eaten cooked food so she wasn't so much raised as she was observed. I wont excuse her actions with Laurent as it clearly was not the way to go, but both that support and the Inigo supports show that Nah was never taught how to manage her own desires other than bottle them up until they are unhealthy. The female Robin support which wasn't shown here shines in this department as it shows just how strong she really is and how much she holds back. It also shows that Nah really needs parental figures in her life as she has spent so much time trying to grow up quickly that she doesn't understand her own emotions and thoughts all that well. I don't like how they used Nah as a "bad end" for the womanizing Inigo. It should never have been a romantic end for those two.

I still grabbed Awakening again since they are going to close the 3ds eShop. It'll be a while before I can play it since I have quite the backlog at the moment. Sadly, Nah is going to be stuck with her supports. Let's just say that her supports with Inigo could be better. It'll be unlikely that Awakening will ever get remastered since it has gameplay and balance issues. It would be a pain to remake it from the ground up. Awakening should have been playtested considering people complained about Lunatic and Lunatic+ even back during Awakening's heyday. Hell, the hardest level is the prologue.

Looks like I was unaware of the S support from Inigo x Nah, because that's hella drastic. To me, the Supports throughout had a more comedic tone to it, cartoonish if you will, with Nah hanging around/leaning at a wall smiling at Inigo's failures to get a women's attraction (you can imagine this like, Inigo comes to a pub/bar while Nah was somewhat awaiting Inigo to have a chat/see the results of his attempts), and she, out of his disrespect, transforms into this manakete form (how big is she tho? Ingame she doesn't look that tall, maybe 3 metres, if even when transformed) and scares him. Heck, Inigo uses this cartoonic clichee of "I saw my memories flooding before my eyes, how ppl would see my around my grave, millions of woman crying beneath for my loss", which gave my imagination of this situation a more comedic tone/supporting imagination to it. But the S support killed it, showing all this "comedic tone" was not meant to be as that. It now gives me a bad taste of humour, and somewhat supports the not-Nah/Nono fans which I can now understand even more why they dislike my favorite unit (I'm aware of the supports with Laurent, Gerome etc., which I found to be showing her chidish/still immature/socially akward side, although Laurent's with her (never really was a fan of him as a character, although he's one of my stronger units) was one of the worst supports for me, as it hurts Nah's character and Laurent is innocent/not smartassing this time!

I have a personal theory that now I is the daughter of Nagi from shadow dragon and hero’s of light and shadow as this would explain why now I looks like tiki (a divine dragon ) and has divine dragon aspects in her effectiveness against dragons, a trait that only divine dragons have. This could also explain why nah can communicate with nana as correct me if I’m wrong but that would make nah a direct descendant of naga, assuming nagi is nagas child like tiki and that’s why nagi and tiki are so extremely similar and have nagi could have a falchion, this would make nah nagas great granddaughter. I like most of the child characters in Awakening, and I feel like there was a lot of effort pout in to each of them in terms of writing, and even the ones I don't like are more down to an aversion of the tropes used than thinking they're bad examples of those archetypes. That being said, they do also have some clunkers and I think you did a pretty good job of illustrating Nah's here. That being said, I don't think any of her conversations are out of character for her, just resolved poorly, but that makes sense; she wants friends, but expects people to reject her out of hand, so she walls them off as a defense. Also, she's a teenager who's never had enough of a social life to learn how things like building a positive relationship or personal boundaries are supposed to work, which leads to things like Inigo and Laurent.

10:03 Ever tried changing Tiki into a Griphin rider? You become weak to :Bows, Wind Magic, Beast Slayer, Dragonslayer, Naga, Falchion and so on. For those of you who don't know, childs from a manakete keep the weakness to dragon weapons even if they are not in the manakete class, same goes for taguels with beast killing weapons. If you had a child from a Manakete-Taguel union it would permanently be weak to Beast-Slaying and Dragon-Slaying weapons which would be horrible. It also creates a contradiction in Nah and Morgan F's support because Nah is weak to Wyrmslayers even when she isn't in her dragon form (in any other class) thus the technique would be useful if she wasn't in dragon form.

Nah was always pretty cool. For the next spotlight, I know not many people probably care about her, but Tatiana from Echoes was one of my favorite units to use and was the main reason i was even able to survive later dungeons and battles.

Nah's support with iingo made me crack up laughing. Stil, I can see why many people wouldn't like it. Her support with laurent though, makes is seem like a different writer wrote that one.

I know how terrible Nah's supports with Laurent are but I can't help but like her pairing with him the most of all of them. This might just be because they were paired in my very first playthrough when I didn't know any better which resulted in a lot of headcanons but I think that Nah is VERY inexperienced when it comes to romantic feelings, especially as a Manakete. She straight up jumps into her first relationship and I think once she gets romantically involved with Laurent and notices him growing older she'll have a lot of fears and doubts to struggle with regarding the loneliness that has been a topic in Tiki's support. Laurent, who has first hand experience with crippling loneliness himself due to the failed time travel, might be able to reassure her by discussing her feelings about the future with his own experiences and help her grow as a person. Well, this doesn't excuse the fact that their entire support has been straight up anime loli bait but I actually thought of it as pretty cute back then, haha...

Great work on the video, very good editing. Props to everyone who worked on this! However- -Wall of Text Incoming- I disagree on the point about Donnel!Nah and passing down aptitude. Donnel does not have many skills that Nah would really want. Aptitude needs no investment besides Donnel's recruitment requirement. Everything below assumes you want to raise Donnel and not just pair him up with Nowi until they get married, and then bench Donnel again. Armsthrift is overkill in a class where dragonstones are easy to come by (they can be bought at the chapter 12 store, and you need to beat ch13 before you can play the child paralogues anyway) and have 50 uses. I could see its use if you want to use Nah as something other than a manakete, as she gets 50 luck without limit breaker, but that number is very far off, and by the point nah gets there, she'll be able to solo however many chapters of the game are left. It's also a very easy skill to get if you are willing to have nah reclass to merc, then back at manakete at level 10. Sol is luck reliant and not that useful on such a tanky character in my opinion for that reason (remember oscar's sol procs in the PoR maniac let's play?) unless we're talking about nosferatu tanks i guess. After that, you have -breaker skills. Bow breaker and axe breaker, both from level 15 bow knight and hero respectively. The main problem with these is time investment- in a run where you do not allow yourself to grind, getting to level 15 promoted takes time, and by that point Nowi and Donnel can easily be married, or you could have recruited Nah earlier, and had her see use, contribute, get experience and develop earlier. Then you have counter. It's somewhat of a novelty skill. My main problem with it is it makes the damage that the user will deal harder to predict and strategize around. But besides that, Donnel won't learn it til level 15 warrior. Axefaire- Same as above, learned at level 15 berserker, and only useful if reclassing nah into wyvern rider classes. Wrath. Not as useful without vantage. And besides, Nah should try to never be this low on HP, being as tanky as she is. At last, Rally Skill and Strength- The first one is useless. The second one is good, but it's made with support in mind, and Nah is better off attacking enemies or just moving around in general, rather than speding one turn buffing allies. (I want to stress that this isn't me wanting to start an argument, or acting all triggered, just my thoughts)
