I think the difference between both movies is that in 'Manichitrathaazhu,' Shobana's character is going through a psychological problem. She's not possessed or something; her personality changes are all happening because of what she went through in her childhood. She was a vulnerable character, which is why a new story and environment affected her so much. It's all happening inside her head. Whereas in 'Chandramukhi,' Jyothika's character actually gets possessed by a power, so it's more like just a horror movie.
