Today was the day we left the Philippines of course Manila Airport didn't disappoint with delayed flights and chaos. Probably one of the worst airports. When we finally arrived in Kuala Lumpur Malaysia it was a totally different vibe from what we had been used to in Manila

I do like the dry humour of Lay: Tom complains about the prices on board ("robbery") and Lay shoots back (05:35): "As a former Air Asia-employee, I feel your pain. We understand you, Sir Tom!" 🤣 Priceless! Don't we all get regularly insulted by this kind of nonsensical customer service-speak! I must say: I underrated Tom's new flame in the beginning. (It's already been the other way round...) She's a very cool and based lady. Nothing beats a well developed sense of humour.

I just left 6 weeks in Malaysia. Toured about highlands , coastal beaches and KL. Not my favorite place in SEA . I found it difficult to find likeable food. And pricing has gone up a lot in recent 2 years. Wish you luck.!

I have a Filipina wife and I have lived in the Philippines. What could Tom have said that hurts you. He has praised the country at times and shows a lot of love to the Philippines. If he is talking about taxes or traffic or smog on the air or even traffic what is false. He can't just stay as your saying he has to visa rights to just "stay". He is not married to a Filipina. He has not changed his visa for long stay. Please let me know what he has said that hurts you so then I can bring it to Tom's attention.

@@ihn2023 thank you for the comment but what I feel I need to do is defend Tom and other foreigners that love the Philippines. When a foreigner enters into a relationship with a local Filipina we usually always are very willing to accept a culture that is different to ours. The food is different the housing can be different the language is different the culture is different. Most of us accept this. We love this. But to tell other expats or others that everything is status quo your right it is not fair. I love the Philippines and I love my wife. I'd rather be there than in the states for some purposes. But for someone to whine about a good foreigner admitting he love the place and loves a female from that same place he holds no reason for this to conversation to be brought up. There are many Philippine vloggers that do enough to bring down opinions of people that you don't need to blame Tom.

I near had a HEART attack leaving Manila airport one time ,,, it was around the time that rumours said bullets were getting put in bags ,,,,, And over the intercom they kept calling out my name and telling I needed to attend the service desk ..... AHHH but it worried for nothing it was a free upgrade to Business class :)

Tom, i was delayed in Manila due to needing Emigration exit Clearance Certificate because I stayed over 6 months in the Philippines. Luckily you can obtain it in the Domestic Terminal 3, one stop shop. ETravel also needed but its done online. Not sure if you were there over 6 months. Another FYI for your subscribers is make sure to bring any visa extension papers they give you at Immigration if you have stayed longer then 30 days. Fees apply for the Exit Clearance, about 1200 or 1300 pesos I think it was. Enjoy your travels!

MDAC takes a few minutes online, Similar to Singapore arrivals card. I've been a few times recently and Malaysia still have not installed immigration machines. Ultimately, certain nationalities will be able to enter and exit via these machines like in Singapore.

KL McD - thumbs up! lol.... :) I've been wondering why vloggers generally seem to take taxis or ride-shares, to/from the major airports, even when there is a train available. I've always found the trains to be easier, faster, cheaper & scam-free - for example, in KL, HK, Bangkok and Tokyo. Hopefully, Manila will extend the LRT to MNL in the near future. Just my 2 ringgit, of not-so-important opinion, ofc. Have fun, you two! Thanks for sharing!

Safe travel Tom and Lay. Enjoy your time in KL guys. I have been there once. I stayed in the Airport Hotel. My first time to experience tropical weather. It was a short walk to the hotel but i was sweating soo much. I was travelling from Melbourne to Cebu via KL n stops in Koto Kinabalu n Manila to Cebu for 10 days and spending Xmas there. Then it was back to Manila and power outtage at the airport and manual check-in. Back to KL n onto Dubai and then to Germany for 3 months and travelling around Europe and Scandinavia.

Concur, in terminal 1, where most international flights are, it is a madhouse where lines are as long as the terminal. Not really any seating and early check-in isn't allowed, so moe people crowd the terminal. I arrived early, and Eva Air's check in terminal was not open. Only opened 3 hours before flight. People were pushing to get in front of the line when opened. Also, you rarely see in public a pinoy in wheelchairs, however for 20 pesos Manila's airport ]is filled with them. Insane

I guessed wrong on the destination. If you weren't going to Ireland, and just showing Lay some nearby'ish countries I would have guessed you would travel to Thailand, Vietnam, Malaysia and Cambodia for Lay to see more and experience each culture, plus get some extra stamps in her passport. Sleep well, great condo to stay in. You need to say how much your room cost, how much from Manilla to Malaysia each etc....

Manila is not the worst airport but probably just soso airport. In the first place we are not BKK, and certainly not Singapore. Haha to be fair, Philippines is for patient people. This is why Filipinos are so resilient and even if they experience something little bad or delay to anything, we are still the happiest people on earth. I understand Tom has always this bad sight of everything, since he lives in Ireland and in UK too, they are depressive in any way 😅 but we understand coz their weather made them like that. If you have lots of money, you have no complains. But if you are poor like me, I complain sometimes and i want everything to be easy for me and convenient 😅

Manila Airport might be the worst , BUT it breaks the rule in that it is a GOOD place to change money , as the exchange rate is surprisingly good, and there are no hidden charges . Changing money in Manila isn't always easy. Banks won't do it unless you have an account there, so you have to rely on exchange offices, which in some cases could be dodgy.
