José Rizal was a polyglot who mastered 22 languages including Catalan, Chinese, English, French, German, Greek, Hebrew, Japanese, Latin, Malay, Sanskrit, Spanish, Tagalog, and other Philippine languages.. There were at least nine women linked with Rizal; namely Segunda Katigbak, Leonor Valenzuela, Leonor Rivera, Consuelo Ortiga, O-Sei San, Gertrude Beckette, Nelly Boustead, Suzanne Jacoby and Josephine Bracken. These women might have been beguiled by his intelligence, charm and wit.

I wish the Philippines will also have a Museum of Modern Art because our modern artists are no less talented. In Singapore, I always visit their MOMA and surprise, surprise...there are always a lot of artwork by Filipino artists!! BTW, thank you so much for featuring our museum. I feel that there mot enough Philippine museums which will highlight Phillipine culture. I recommend going to the AYALA MUSEUM in Makati which high;rights Pre-Spanish Filipino arts and cultural items...you's be amazed by goldworks and items on display.

There are very few visitors who would make an effort to visit the National Museum. Metro Manila is the cultural and arts center in the country. Understanding our art will make you understand us as a people. Thank you. Btw, one of the portraits painted by Amorsolo (came out in this video) is my grandmother. We donated her portrait together with the bust of my grandfather to the National Museum.

*DJR was an eye doctor & attended University of Santo Thomas. I believe it is the oldest university in Asia. Fernando Amorsolo was born in Paco, Manila which is my residence since 1994. He died in 1972, the year I was born 😢. I wish he had stayed longer and waited for me 😅. I'm talking about art, silly! It would have been an honor to be under his wing. I love to draw realistic portraits but never attended art school. I was stupid. Wish I had. I'm still on the field of art but in a different area. And 2 of my 3 kids are both artists. Our house are full of art stuff/drawing materials and sketch books. My youngest doesn't just draw, he sculpts. So I have transparent bins to preserve and showcase his miniature FNAF works* Love your little guy! He has a funny side 😅

Our conservators really did a good job stitching back the painting together. When the Philippines declared independence, Spain was spiteful enough to pack up the Spoliarium by cutting it up and bringing it to Europe.

I had no idea it was that damaged. It is gorgeous and looks great hanging in that great room.

Cole would love the Museum of Natural History as it is mostly about animals. Please visit it too!

We tried to go to all three but couldn't work out a scheduling conflict with being allowed to film there so we had to publish with only the one museum.

I was a freshman in High School when I saw the Spolarium during a field trip to the National Museum. I had nightmares for days after I saw it.
