I am from Cebu. I've been to both cities and they are equally beautiful. Dany is right Bangkok has a slight edge with their hotel prices and very good internet. Manila (or the entire country) has its advantage, too. You can communicate easily with the English language. Both cuisines are unique so every tourist must visit both cities.

Esp for foreigners who are thinking of moving to Asia for good, if they have the money, they should try living first in different Asian countries for a month or 2 before deciding where to settle in. I've also seen some who have been living in Thailand for a year or 2 and then try it here in PH and end up liking it more here. Maybe vice versa in some cases. This vlog just gives you an idea. You need to do your own research also of what will suit your needs and desires better.

Crossing the street in the Philippines is dangerous with cars, motorcycles, and buses see you as a target. Crossing the street in Thailand, the complete opposite. Cars, motorcycles, and buses actually stop to let you cross the street. Thai massage in Thailand is the best. As for food I give the Philippines the edge. Shopping, Thailand all the way. Historical fact, during WW2, Manila was the 2nd most devastated city in the world, second to Krakow. Hunddreds of thousands killed in Manila alone, and there would have been a lot more historical structures all over the Philippines, especially in Manila, but that's the reality of wars that people today should be reminded of.

Bangkok hands down. Manila has a lot of catching up to do in terms of convenience. Transportation is hell. Bangkok is more comprehensible, which is ironic considering English is widely spoken in Manila. Also, it’s a pain to get a Grab in Manila nowadays.

Im korean. I've been to Manila first like 3 years ago. And I was really surprised that the infrastructure was really bad generally. Especially the highway system and traffic were just horrible. I visited Bangkok this year, the infrastructure is way better than Manila. And calling Taxi is so much easier(I was using Grab) and I felt much more safe in Bangkok. I was really surprised that Bankok was developed really well than I expected. Filipino speaks English better than Thai tho.

Bangkok is generally better in physical but in menthol I prefer Manilla. You'll be a favor one in PH than in TH. Both are friendly. The factors to be considered are health care, safety, living cost, visa, scenery, and things those easy to access.

Manila was heavily damaged during the WW2. Fyi, After Poland Philippines came second as the most damaged countries during the WW2..... that's why most of our beautiful heritage homes, churches, bridges, buildings during the Spanish era and some from American era were gone. I would also like to comment that u are wrong to say that the best beaches and islands are far (needs to fly) from Manila. There is Batangas (1 hr ride from Manila), Puerto Galera (2 hrs drive and boat from Manila), Quezon (2-3 hrs drive from Manila), Zambales (3 hrs drive from Manila), Pangasinan & La Union (5 hrs drive from Manila). There are so many paradise places near Manila

Spot on. For travelers, cost of accommodation and internet service are King. The Philippines' introduction of a 3rd telecommunications company has improved internet connection .... but still only to a certain extent. And, what's more, the company is now involved in financial problems. The Philippines also still lacks the number of cell towers needed to support demand for good service. It remains to be seen if Manila can seriously improve on this problem in the coming years. Hotel pricing must be brought down - without sacrificing quality service and amenities - to gain customers. An extensive survey of hotels with the same pricing levels across different countries - especially in the Southeast Asian region - must be done for getting a better idea of how, say, Philippine hotels compare to other countries' hotels in the same star category ... and, thus, how they can restrategize their marketing mix of their hotels to keep them competitive - because higher prices result to lower duration of stay ... or, even, none at all.

Nice review, though I guess your thought was still partial on the Metro Manila comparison, following you guys with your PH trip, you haven't visited yet other business districts of Metro Manila like Filinvest City, Madrigal Business Park, Greenfield District, Araneta City, Ortigas Center, ASEANA City, key areas of Quezon City like Vertis North, UP TechnoHub, Katipunan Ave, Centris, etc. places that should be included before comparing to Bangkok. I agreed on the connectivity that Bangkok is ahead so far, but wait until those "under construction infra" are done like the MRT 7, Metro Manila Full Subway Train, Makati Subway system, BGC Monorail system, MRT 4 Line, LRT 2 west extension, LRT 1 Cavite to Manila, PNR Line Manila to Clark, Cavite-Bataan-Manila Bay Mega Bridge, the New Manila International Airport and Sangley Point International Airport, these are all 3-5 yrs projects in nearby completion. I guess if connectivity is the issue these would give other Asian Cities a run for their money sooner. Also, to include, those private flagship projects along Manila Bay at the back of SM MOA, in totality that's 50 reclamation projects, 8 of that are already started the dredging along the bay to create more modern "BGC-like islands": Horizon Manila Project - 419 hectares, Solar City Manila 148 hectares, Pasay Harbor City Center - 265 hectares, City of Pearl Manila - 407 hectares, Solaire Cruise Ship City Terminal - 50 hectares, Navotas Reclamation Coastal Bay - 650 hectares, New Manila Bay International Community - 407 hectares, and Manila Waterfront City- 318 hectares. So imagine if all these are completed in the next 10 - 15 yrs along Manila Bay? To give a mathematical comparison, BGC is only 240 hectares. Thanks, and sorry for the long post. :)

Plus the fact that other airlines have more Bangkok flights as compared with Manila. This comparison plays a lot in getting backpackers worldwide, direct flights make it more economical in totality and easier. Even caucasian vloggers noticed this data in the past and often visited Bangkok and Manila from the U.S. and Europe.

In manila, the privately developed areas are wonderful places to visit. They clean and orderly. But it is almost always the opposite with the public or government areas. Chaos on the streets, the sidewalks, above with those spaghetti aerial wires, unregulated buildings, and dilapidated facilies among other things. The problem is that they do not just ride on the system to accumulate wealth but worse... they are also INCOMPETENT.

I'm Somali visited both but I like Manila more. Filipinos are very friendly and they all speak english. It's very easy to travel. In Thailand it's more expensive and many don't speak english.

You still have not been to the Northern side of the Philippines Dany like Sagada in the Mountain province, San Fernando, La Union, Banawe Rice Terraces, Vigan, Ilocos Sur, Baguio City, Batanes, Pagudpod, Ilocos Norte, etc. These places have very different scenery from the Visayas islands, more of the mountain scenery.

Thailand is the richer country. Their GDP is more than double than PH's. Maybe one of the reasons PH is not as developed is because it's an archipelago of many islands, so it's harder to manage economically. And also, we are in the Typhoon belt and in the Pacific Ring of Fire as well, hence the frequent calamities we experience. But inspite of all the challenges we face, we remain happy people, and one of the friendliest in the world. And we are also one of the fastest growing economies in Asia, btw. So hopeful that things will continue to improve. But just want to correct you about beaches here in PH. There are actually great beaches in Luzon too that you can travel to by land from Manila, like those in Zambales, Pangasinan (Hundred Islands National Park), Batangas and Camarines Sur (with its Caramoan Island, shooting location of Survivor reality show.) Though they will take a few hours to reach, esp. Cam Sur coz that's further down south. Will take an entire day.

Hey what did you say PH gdp is double with TH? Th gdp i think 500B+ and PH gdp is 400B+ .TH ahead a bit, thier metro transpo is easier than metro manila. Its because too many tourist flocking thats why they need them to ease the transpo by easy access in the city. PH is behind in terms of transpo/insfras but we are going there. Its under constractions our subways and connecting the train system in coming years lets see.

Manila NEEDS to upgrade her OLD and antiquated NAIA Airport ( Terminal 1 ). Bangkok beats Manila when it comes to International Airport. As I Filipino , I have been to both airports. And this is the main problem and why you have FLIGHT DELAYS because of the limited RUNWAY in Manila Airport. They plan for a new airport but knowing how the PH government works , it may take ages! Thus CEBU (MCIA ) airport is better alternative. Thus there is direct flight from Cebu to Qatar, Dubai, Seoul, Singapore. And there is a 3rd runway underway in Mactan-Cebu International Airport ( MCIA ) to accommodate the growing tourist flocking to Cebu!
