I've been riding the four trains during my college days (Years 2002-2006). LRT 1 has improved, especially when it comes to the longest airconditioned train, the newest being in the time 2:13 since I was trying to skip the shortest LRT1 in 1:01 (with only 3 cars which are easily been packed by people). The original aircon train in 1:25 has no record of any failure. LRT 1 is the original in the 1970s. LRT 2 (9:20) has been built during President Gloria Arroyo administration, around 2003. The LRT 2 is airconditioned and modernized. MRT3 (13:13) the blue one which ran along the length of EDSA from North to South, has been built during President Estrada administration (the Year 1997). Though it reports frequent accidents, the MRT is ranked neutral, if it is not the worst commuter train. Among the three, MRT is the most easily jampacked. There are the fourth one (not appeared in the video) which is the Philippine National Railway or PNR. The PNR is the original train built in 1898. When I ride the train, there is still airconditioned, a second-hand Japanese train (embarrassed LOL). The PNR when it runs from Tutuban, Manila to Alabang, Muntinlupa (or Sta. Rosa, Laguna in its regular last trip ride to the Southern Metro Manila), it took me 2 hours when it is jampacked. Not worth it. It's better to take a bus instead. But the PNR's Fare for the longest trip is only P25.00 compared to bus around P 115. The PNR should be the pride of the Philippines which run from the Northern Province (Tarlac Province) to the Southern Bicol Region (Camarines Sur Province). However, it was sad because for the past 12-15 administrations (years 1898 to the present 2019), the PNR has never been improved). The land where the railways passed had been taken and converted into private homes by private owners. None of the past and present administrations care about it. The only thing the PNR survived is when Sen. Cynthia Villar passed the law extending the franchise life of PNR.

@Matt Obra so you are actually agreeing. Forced or not, the LRT1 do a great job to maintain them running and working far harder than they were designed to.

@Matt Obra There are new 4G trains that will arrive here next year, once all 120 4th generation trainsets have been delivered. 1G and probably 2G trains will finally be retired and decomissioned
@kornkernel22325 жыл бұрын
@Matt Obra There is a 4th gen coming alongside with Cavite Extension Project. On all train lines, LRT-1 has been vastly improved and well maintained, compared to MRT-3 being the worse ones. PNR lines were neglected but lately they are making some improvements for it to make it more useful, at least for the meantime until they finished the new NSCR line which will replace it completely. Having old train isn't a problem, the issue is the maintenance and improvements, which MRT-3 did not but only recently. MRT-3 stations are now look so worn down which is not even that modern when its new (very barebones and pretty much just a larger version of LRT-1) and trains are still in 1st Gen with poor maintenance including its tracks and signalling system. Yet MRT-3 is probably the most used metro line on all 4.

Great video. This has long been one of my preferred spots for photographing the LRT1. Despite the robbery attempt, and idiotic security guards, it is a terrific spot. This system has the best variety as well. Thanks for sharing. Brad Philippine Railway Historical Society

I am confused with train system in Manila Philippines. Which one is MRT, and which one is LRT
@kiane94656 жыл бұрын
MRT and LRT naming comes from the names of the company that runs it, not the actual trainset that is used on a line. LRT2 is maintained by Light Rail Transit Corporation despite being heavy rail.
@kornkernel22325 жыл бұрын
@@kiane9465 True! They are confusing as hell since they naming scheme don't represent what train they really use except for LRT Line 1 which is Light Rail, but LRT Line 2 should have been called MRT Line 2. That MRT Line 3 is also misleading and should have been called LRT Line 3 since they use same type of train as Line 1. Heck they even physically connected and trains almost fit with each respective stations with minor measurement differences. I wish someday they will change the name to better represent what type of train they really use. Gladly MRT Line 7 also use Heavy Rail like the Line 2.

@@dologongpoloponobonotongpo235 That's another confusing thing about the metro system in the city thanks to the past transport secretary who ruined the line colors just because they can without good reason. It used to be: Line 1 = Yellow Line 2 = Purple Line 3 = Blue Now: Line 1 = Green Line 2 = Blue Line 3 = Yellow Yet they did not change the train colors and some parts of the system. Line 1 trains don't have any green color on its livery. Line 3 is very blue in color with only a hint of yellow for its 2nd Gen train. Line 2 being blue is like a person having color blindness. There is no logical reason for the change of color.
