When you realize that rebound adjustment is backwards. Yeah you turn towards the plus but it makes the fort slower. Look out for that.

I’m glad there’s another video on this fork. Im getting mine in a few days. A few questions: -how do you know how far to put star nut in? I had never seen someone just use the bolt. -any suggestions to not waste oil when moving to 120mm travel? Or what you would have done differently.
@spixus3is3 жыл бұрын
I used a bolt to set the star nut as i dont have the appropriate tool for it. I set it in deep enough till there is enough clearance for the stem cap whilst making sure there is enough threads for the stem bolt to screw into. My fork came shipped with 120mm of travel so there was no need for me to open up the fork. However, i have seen some video where people would sit the fork flat while changing travel as to avoid spilling oil. Some just completely replace all the oil. Hopes this helps.
@mattx31903 жыл бұрын
@@spixus3is So i just received it from World Wide Cyclery. It’s weird, it came with two spacers in the box(I’m assuming it was shipped at 120mm travel since there is two spacers included). Was this yours? Also the oil seems to have more of a sound when i compress it. Is this normal for this fork?
@spixus3is3 жыл бұрын
@@mattx3190 mine came shipped with only one spacer. The fork only makes weird slushy noise when I turn it upside down and compress it. But I reckon it’s normal for an air fork.

@spixus3is2 жыл бұрын
Glad you enjoyed the video! The rockshox judy in my opinion, is pretty much the same as the manitou so I reckon there is no need to upgrade unless your fork is broken or you want 120mm of travel.

@@spixus3is I got XCR. Rode it on trails for several years, but it's not quite enough for what I'm doing so it's time to upgrade (and I'm rebuilding my old bike anyway). Now choosing between Epixon, XC30, Recon Silver and Markhor. Probably going with the latter one after your vid.

I just bought a Norco Fluid HT2 It has a Suntour XCM coil fork. I'm looking to upgrade and am considering the Markhor or Machete. I have a large 29er. How do I know if the forks I mention will fit? I'm new to this and I'm not sure if it's even a dumb question.
@spixus3is2 жыл бұрын
Your hardtail has a tapered head tube which means you need to buy forks that have a tapered steerer tube in order to fit. Double check if the manitou fork is tapered. Make sure you buy one that will also fit ur 29er wheels and best if it has same travel as the stock Suntour fork. Hope this helps.

I’ve never tried the rockshox Judy silver
@antonsavelyev42583 жыл бұрын
I've tried both and ended up going with the Markhor because of its adjustable travel. The rebound is there on the Markhor but not exactly noticeable and as he said in the video, doesn't click. On the silver, it's a bit more noticeable and has clicked. Both have upgrades that you can do to them too, for the Markhor you can get an ABS+ dampener ($50-$100) and I read somewhere that with this dampener installed, the fork competes with some of the higher level forks. Both of them have a lockout switch, but the Markhor is lighter than the Silver and has a reverse arch that attracted me to it because it blocks dirt from flying into the stantions (and creates better cable routing). Though, one downside to this reverse arch is that you'll need to figure out a way to get a mudguard on there if you use one. But yeah, both are still great forks.

Which country is the Manitou Markhor fork from?
@rodzor3 жыл бұрын
I dismantled it a week or two ago and ended up having a hell of a time taking the spacer out and getting back together at 120mm travel but it's all good now on my hardtail. Any idea for a mud fender? the normal ones I have don't work with this Manitou fork. I don't think they make a specific Markhor fender either? it sucks so much not having a mud guard on the front.
@spixus3is3 жыл бұрын
Yeah lol I ended up losing a lot of the oil in the lower legs when removing the spacer. Atm i cant find any mudguards that are made specifically for this fork but manitou has it for their higher end forks like the machete and dorado. Not sure if they will fit on the markhor.
