I lost my job of 19.5 years last month. It definitely feels weird not working there anymore. But it was definitely a good thing.

Most people get far too involved in the steel debate. Heat treat matters far more than steel type for 99% of users and tasks imo. That said, CPM-M4 is the best. Lol

Both great knives, people also have to realize that where Demko is getting these knives done is in Tiawan with a proven track record of great fit and finish and also good heat treats. So glad he didn't go the China route. Have several knives in AUS10A and they all perform comparable to 154cm. Crazy action on that spyderco also. Keep making sharp things fun and enjoyable

I find 154cm hold fine edge better, but aus 10 is a tuff biatch of a steel. Perfect for stainless fixed blades imo

I’ve had the cold steel airlite for a few weeks now and I’m pleasantly surprised by the aus10a it’s held a very good edge for me I don’t carry it every day but I do try to use it once a day at least.

The Manix LW in Rex45 is hard to beat. One of my personal favorites when I have alot of cutting to do

Appreciate your honesty, if aus10 is as good as 154 that's plenty good for me. Thanks G.

It's also a lot tougher. This is one of the reasons cold steel use it to do stupid cuts with

@Outpost 76 how do you have that Spyderco so lose? My manix 2 lightweight is nowhere near that and I've even adjusted the pivot screws.

This one, the always test Rex 45 and my personal user both came nice like this. The tester has a little lock stuck but the other one is smooth. I didn't adjust either one of these, both came free dropping. The first one I found when they came out is better than this one. I've had some LW Manix that are stiff no matter what I did. Just seems to be luck of the draw.

@@Outpost_76 thanks for the reply. Hopefully I find the one that's easier for my needs and makes it easier to love. Lightweights seem to be too questionable so I'll stick to the G10 models only! But if one of my older ones prove true and drops into place with a little more ease then I'll love it as my one and only.

I've sharpened AUS10 on a Voyager for a very good friend of mine and he is seeing horrible edge retention. I sharpened it to a 1,200 grit silicone carbide stone and left him with a nice and toothy edge. It deburred just fine and sliced paper very well. After cutting some hay string he is getting some pretty bad chipping. I didn't lay the edge back much at all after following the factory bevel. I'm wondering if this is because of an overheated edge from the factory
@Outpost_76

That could be, I'd definitely sharpen that a few more times to see if it has any improvement.

On second thought why would they use AUS10A?🤔. We will never know or will we?🤔. Maybe it’s better than maxamet?

Ok OP76, good vid and educational. However I get it, but not to rain on the parade of haters on the AD 20.5. Look it’s a good tool. I think it would be better if it had a better steel. I have the mini adamas. I have beat it up. Do I think it’s better? Maybe? In steel? Yes, but that demko with better steel and scales would out perform in heavy use. Pricing is OK for AUS10A. But I can get cruwear for just a few bucks more. Knowing I can beat the hell out of it. I am not one to be downing small companies trying to make a living. But Demko could’ve done better. They have good engineering, to pop in as economical knife is a mistake. Quality and performance is a concern to the consumer. Keep up the good good work and stay true to you and not to others. Good luck to your new chapter.❤️

Aus10 has similar edge retention and toughness to vg10, but slightly less corrosion resistance and sharpenability. The difference between them is not very significant.

Most steel snobs don't use their knives. We were happy with 420 when I had my first pocket knife. Most can't even sharpen vg10 let alone any of the so called super steels.
