copiando, scusate,la frase ad un personaggio di un film, nelle arti marziali, un nonnato, puo' avere la stessa identica arma, del piu'potente dei samurai.è gia' qualcosa.
Good structure, really focusing on what not to do and good flow. Pardon my ignorance who is the Sensei?

This is Otake Risuke Sensei - the most important teacher of the school at that time (shihan) and has the highest rank of the school (gokui kaiden). His sons are also on the video. He gave his dojo to his eldest son Otake Nobutoshi 6:45 (also gokui kaiden). I have the honor to study with both of them for 15 years now.

@@shinryokai excellent. I study Bujinkahn under Hatsumi Sensei and have done various other styles and trained also with Iaido Master Seckaguci Sensei. I always enjoy watching genuine Masters and really appreciate this video. Nice to talk to you.
Glad they showed nagiata winning. If both sides are equally skilled naginata will always beat katana. A sword master against a low skilled naginata student should win but tgat is because of the vastly different skill level

It's a kata, there is no winner or loser, only teacher and student. The reason why the person with the naginata gives the ending blow (todome) is because he is the student who usually in traditional styles is always giving said todome while facing the teacher. These kata are also here to teach how someone with a katana can deal with one using a naginata, bo or yari, in this case primarily by using the hashikakaru technique, explained at around 7:00. In fact, the teacher "lets" the student end here as there could be lots of things to do against the todome, but you have to end the kata somewhere... There is no real fighting in this video, no loser either, only katageiko and better students.

@@pompadour_gagarin1723 i understand what 2man kata is about but kata usually show an outcome based on reality-especially in koryu arts

@@jadekayak01 I'm going to be blunt (it's my morning so pardon me) but if you think you understand what 2-men kata is but still talk in terms of "winning" and "reality-based", you might re-think that statement.

@@pompadour_gagarin1723 normally i would agree with you 100%. I currantly do goju and all krotty kata(and judo) are training aids and a library of techniques. When you start talking about koryu systems the "kata" are taken directly from battlefield applications where the person passing on the technique actually survived through the application of the technique. Today "kata" is about the only way these killing techniques can be passed on because we no longer(for most countries) run around killing people let alone with swords. Some third world countries still have machette fights on a regular basis but they are slowly disapearing from youtube The kata are different in different kotyu styles because they discovered a different way to deal with the same attack but on the whole look very simillar. I also do katana no gata which is based on koryu kata and seitei gata, also based on kotyu as well as some koryu kenjutsu

@@jadekayak01 I've been taught the style displayed in this video, I regularly do the naginata kata in this video. And I can tell you that if he so wished, ukedachi could strike shidashi with his katana at pretty much any point in the kata, that is if he showed the bunkaï, but that would stop the kata and the goal is to let shidashi learn something. The kata is always a major reworking around a principle. It's just not true to say that it's "directly" taken from the battlefield, first of all we have no way to know about this (no robert capa roaming around nagashino and sekigahara), besides it's forgetting that the vast majority of the koryu styles (not talking of TSKSR here) are from the "peaceful" edo-era where there was no battles being done anymore. Kata are a transmission and training tool, hence why it's said that "kata isn't waza". They are a complete construction, not a straightforward testimony of a technique, this because you don't use principles in a fight! I mean, you could read Friday or Bennett about the development of the koryu into peacetime, about how koryu aren't directly schools of war but of personal refinement first. Regardless, I've said both too much and enough, though I genuinely say, keep doing good practice!
