Dubem Ogwulumba I think one of the creators said it was too inconsistent of an item upon use. they wanted to make things more fair and get rid of the chance of getting flung off a cliff by chain chomp. as much as I understand that, I still hope they bring it back somehow.

The Chain Chomp legit smacks you into a wall or off the course at full speed if it lets go during a sharp turn. With the Bullet Bill, you bump into the wall at most. In newer games, it slows down a tiny bit before stopping as a fair warning.

If Nintendo were to put both the Chain Chomp and Bullet Bill item into one game I'm pretty sure there would be differences between the two items to make them unique. The chain chomp can be given to anyone between 6th-9th place with less priority below 9th. Make the Chain Chomp more chaotic, the more unpredictable it is the harder it is for players to try and dodge it. Give it some slight homing if a player gets too close. The chain chomp may be immune but you aren't. You're obviously faster than green or red shells but if you so happen to get hit by an item, you're immediately knocked from the chain. When you let go of the Chain you still have a slight boost due to momentum but be careful, you have a tiny window where you can't control your kart. You might even see yourself getting flung off a sharp corner. The Bullet Bill would obviously be given to anyone between 7th-12th place. Obviously immune to everything when using it. You travel through the middle of the track, really predictable. Slightly faster than the Chain Chomp To make it more unique, give it a small explosion once when popping out of the Bullet Bill to catch anyone nearby off guard.
