the only time i remember being on the ferry when it was that rough, the stern came so high out of the water you could hear the propeller XD. If yoou are ever in sydney on a really windy, rough day, GO ON THE MANLY FERRY

When I was a kid way back in the 1960s I used to take days off school and go into town to jump onto the South Steyne to Manly and back. We used to hope for days like this the rougher the better. No going inside for us we'd hang off the side rail and get soaked when the waves came crashing in. One time my mate got washed down the length of the bottom deck we laughed so much,. It was fun being a kid .

Yes, and you could do it for nothing as you did not have to get off the ferry at the other end. The scuppers (drains) on the side decks used to funnel up and without warning would saturate people anywhere near them, Everyone loved it

It's quite amazing to see the gracefull ladies of the harbour go about there duties in any condition, I can remember being on the Narrabeen on Australia Day 2009 coming back from Manly, Pulled up along side Fort Denison and it could not have been timed any better if it was tried pulled up we were on the bow waiting to go in as they said Circular quay was closed next thing we know the tall ships are doing there race right in front of us while we were on the Ferry AWESOME!!!!!!!

4:59 "are you drunk Dad" ...he's obviously had a few beers to take an organ on the ferry on a rough day.

It’s only about 10 minutes the rough part. When they go outside the heads a few minutes more.

The Manly Ferry is one of the places I grew up. My father spent most of his career on the Manly Ferries. I've experienced some rough trips across The Heads, but never once did I ever feel like I was going to be seasick! I came across one or two landlubbers in my time that did think this way, but they were certainly the exception, not the norm.

Thanks for posing this great video! Can you please tell me what your choice of music is here? I love it & would like to know exactly which orchestra & piece is being played. Many thanks!!

With a ride like that, why go to Luna Park.

The problem is with the people outside on a couple of trips if they came inside followed by a wave soaking everyone in the front half of the top deck. Everyone was just soaked , fortunately I was back far enough.

It was a couple of years ago, and I could not recall. Since then, all vessells have been converted to have an outside upper deck (as the 'Collaroy' in the video does). That's more exciting , and you can see on it some of the many zealots for such weather who willingly cop a drenching. However not ideal for filming, and I was fortunate that I was enclosed, when heading back, to capture that giant wave (at 5.50 in). Anyway, I have consulted Sydney Ferries; 'Narabeen', they think I was on.
