Apparently, Sissy is having a terrible nightmare in which she wanders into a forest and encounters a group of people currently engaged in a rather dedicated LARP session where everyone is dressed up as their favorite food items. *** The general structure and operation of this society of auto-cannibalistic food-people are certainly a tad questionable, to say the least. For instance, they’re clearly cultivating gardens and fields of various fruits, vegetables, and wheat for consumption; however, as sentient crop-based lifeforms themselves, wouldn’t these fecund plots of land essentially represent where they seed and gestate the next generation of their populace? Are they basically eating their own newly-sprouted offspring? If not, do I dare ask how they procreate and what sorts of chimerical combinations will result from cross-breeding between foods? We see tomatoes splattered on trees, would that be akin to the residual bloodstains from a horrific murder? Conversely, as Manly stated, is there an implied hierarchy whereby some members of the same species (like Mr. Tomato) are sapient and anthropomorphic while others are purely… _vegetative_ ? On a less facetious note, it will certainly be quite interesting to follow the unveiling of the mysteries surrounding this strange, suspicious society as the game progresses.

I think it's the opposite... they actively AVOIDS human. Our protag would be shooed away multiple times if dumpling isn't convinced that she's also fruit. Bread and butter story implied that they were from human town, but moved here to be able to be themselves (aka they can't admit being food to humans)

If I lived in Food Town I'd identity myself as a pastry, apparently I love pastries so much that I can't choose just one and how I like it depends on my taste so I'm a food that varies itself from a specific section and live in Dairy District where I'm a local baker and I'm neutral in both routes but willing to help Sissy even though I dislike society myself but I'm also disturb by the situation I'm in regarding the town but I live with it anyways since there's nothing I could do.
