Hello, I'm the game developer! Pink is my first game, and I made it to 1) teach myself how to code and 2) scare my friends. I was originally going to share it with just my friend group, and I only made it available publicly on a whim. I've been blown away by the positive reception. No, Pink was not inspired by the song Blue. I came up with the idea after I cleaned a bunch of pink gunk out of a wet saw filter, which got me thinking about how I could make the color pink scary.

I learned about this a very long time ago, but this game reminds me... There's a color called "Baker's Pink". It was used to paint the walls of insane asylums, but they eventually figured out that particular shade of pink was actually making the patients go a lot more mental than they already were! That color is no longer used for facilities of that nature. Just goes to show that colors really do have an affect on mood and mental well being.

Apparently there's an old band from the 90s that's named Baker's Pink, and in the metal mag I was reading back then (yes I'm slightly old, lol) the band tells the history of the shade of pink! It always stuck with me, and I'm glad I had a reason to share this fun little tidbit of knowledge 🙂

I think it's to be taken in a literal way. My theory is that the rain was contaminated by something that made all living things go crazy and mutate over time, so it created an apocalypse situation. Since the girl threw her phone out the window when it rained, my guess is that some droplets fell on her. Since it was only a little, her transformation was slow, but it was still enough to condemn her.

I dont think its the droplets of rain that contaminated her. Its the water she drinks that, itself, is affected by the water of the rain. By drinking a little of the water every day, she started her transformation little by little and eventually lost hunger (because plants dont *really* starve.)

I interpreted the game to be about a girl who is struggling with her eating disorder. She tries to drink away her hunger with water, all the while, growing her eating disorder and plants. conditions get to a point in which it is out of control and taking over her life. Often times with an eating disorder, it is a way of trying to be in control. I feel like she also has OCD and needs to ensure that her room is all neat and tidy. Like how she is obsessed with cleanliness, she becomes obsessed with watering herself with her eating disorder and her addicitions.

I think it's the water from outside. She mentions that there was something important about the rain, so my guess is the rain from when the power went out was some sort of poisonous or parasitical liquid that creates unearthly plant life, and it's taken over the water system in her apartment/city. That's why there are plants growing through drains, and she has used the water to water her houseplants and to drink, so the water is creating the pink flowers and has taken over her own body.

Okay, so I kind of relate to the game. I have a lot of plants and tend to be a shut in because of my depression. There will be times where it is just me and my plants, taking care of them makes me feel a little better and less "useless" I guess.

Just felt like saying my interpretation of the game I feel like this game takes place in some sort of apocalyptic world. Or where the world has ended. That is why the doors are boarded up. As well as why there is no food in her house and the power has been out for weeks. The main character always says 'used to' and refers to things as they'd happened a long time ago. And I believe she is slowly losing her mind, due to having no food and being locked away from society for such a long time. This is why she slowly loses memory of things. And the reason she is so obsessed with plants is because she misses the friends she once had and just the outside world before the incident happened. I also believe when she sleeps she is sleeping for multiple days. Because lack of food and also lack of sunlight can cause extreme exhaustion and can cause people to sleep much longer than normally needed.
