In all seriousness the poop mechanic is actually pretty tragic and true to life. Abused children often display behaviours associated with playing with feces, either eating it or smearing it on the walls. Obviously not every kid who does it is necessarily being abused, but that behaviour is heavily associated with abuse victims.

As someone who came from neglect and abuse, having had a bird like how this boy had a cat... it hit me. Really close to home, even if it was a lot more dramatized. Very beautiful game, well executed. The suspense and dread every time you make noise is very well done. I'd love to have more games like this. There's actually a lot I love about this game. For one thing, it's interesting to see someone use the idea of a full game (or at least the majority of it) taking place in one room, without that being PT inspired or something done before. Instead of coming back to the same thing over and over, you really do get that feeling of containment and isolation, as if besides from the window the kids never been allowed to see the world. Secondly, I love the playstyle of this, it's so unique! The feeling of gradually becoming stronger and more monstrous as the game progresses helps the flow a lot and makes a lot of unique mechanics you gain over time. It really feels like you're becoming harder and harder to contain with each moment, and that adds to the atmosphere. Thirdly, the fact this creators first language isn't English is both surprising and... Honestly, good? I kind of like how the English used in this is a bit different from how people typically speak English. I know that sounds weird but from the perspective of a weird kid who's been trapped in a basement with nothing but cockroaches and a ball for God knows how long, it actually works well at adding to the feeling of alienation and isolation. Like as a whole, I just love this game. It seems so unique and interesting and I hope to see more from this guy in the future.

This is hard to watch. I can relate to the fear. I remember the first time I slammed my door cause I was frustrated and I remember hearing him stomp upstairs so fast. I backed into a corner as he practically ripped my door open and grabbed my wrist. I was so scared, I begged him not to punish me. I was crying, my wrist felt like it was twisting, burning. It didnt bruise but I did have redness. Ive coped by playing music really loud and crying in my pillow so no one would hear. When doors slammed I jumped, scared he would think it was me, I always opened my door, apologizing for something that wasnt my fault or to let him know it wasn't me. I was so scared of it happening again, sometimes I curl myself in a corner, hoping he wouldnt think it was me. It worked, I never slammed a door ever again and my fear of my dad continued to increase. I was 13. Now, 20 years later, I still jump when doors slam apologies. Even when I didnt do it. It's an automatic reaction I cant really stop, I just kinda live with it. He never apologized or realised what that did to me and I dont have the energy to bring it up so I just kinda live with it now. In case your wondering, no, it unfortunately wasnt the only time. His rage always got the better of him, even if he meant well. Be very careful how you treat children, even teens. What you think is in your right to act or treat them may scar them mentally for life. It sticks, is doesnt go away and they have to live with it. Weather it was your best intentions or not.

Doubtful. Given how Smelly is the causation for Bat Boy's choice to finally rebel against his father. Smelly was his only friend and when he got chained down; that inability to save his only friend flew him into a sorrow-addled rage. Briefly able to fight back and left at the impasse. Rage: Bat Boy snaps and fights back against his abusive captor. Killing his father and reconciles that NOBODY will ever hurt him again. Leaving the basement and becomes a monster of hatred and rage. The children he killed no doubt were the same ones who threw eggs and bricks at his basement window. Freedom: Bat Boy saw Smelly's signs and took his way out. The cat was able to escape whether in a dream or momentary pause and he flees his father. With freedom so close and he was able to use his strange adaptations. He carves a life for him away from all pain and hatred. With his crayons, his flashlight, and many cats whom he cherishes as deeply as he did Smelly. Captive: Bat Boy either was paralyzed with fear, uncertainty.. or merely was too slow to his escape. His father returns with a gun and executes him and himself. Putting an end to the child's captivity in the worst way imaginable. Death is the only true escape and Bat Boy would never taste freedom or a life of joy...

@boomerangswingsbothways2 жыл бұрын
I really like the endings. The first ending shows how some children of abuse separate themselves from their abuser/s and are able to heal and be themselves in a safe environment. The second shows how others cause the cycle of abuse. They do not learn from the horrors they had been inflicted upon and do not deal with their trauma and instead lash out and become abusive themselves. The last one I think is the most tragic one, some victims don’t make it out alive. They are just killed off literally or metaphorically by their abuser/s Also the bat boy thing is literal but I like to think of it as a metaphor. Abusers usually convince us that we are inherently wrong and are undeserving of their “love”. Also such traumatic experiences shape us into who we are. In the beginning bat boy is referred to as a monster. But he isn’t, he’s a child with an abusive parent who is negligent or downright physically abusive. Survivors have to try and change the effects their environment have had on them. We all go from thinking about ourselves as a “monster” to just bat boy.

Honestly, my theory for the game is that the kid was some kind of... hybrid monster that was from the union of his father and his mother (which was some monstrous creature), he had murdered the mother because of this fact and locked the son in the basement in order to 'contain' him... which we already know how that went. I think the ending that the father was killed would probably be canon if there were ever a sequel, after all, the father had helped make this monster. Not only by helping it be born but by twisting it from a child that had no idea what it was to a creature that is now *fully* aware of what it can do. Him dying by his own sons hands makes sense in my eyes. But that's a theory... a *GAME THEORY* thanks for reading. (Note: I actually wish there was more story to this game, while the whole situation is fucked up... I am curious to see how this whole thing kind of occurred.)

Honestly I kinda wonder what the dad's story is. Like, maybe he didnt start out so bad? I could imagine him, ready to be just a normal father, but then his wife gives birth to something clearly not human. The kid is not actually evil, just different, but the dad doesnt know that... he sees a demon, a monster, and his mind just cant handle that. His sanity starts to crack more and more as time goes on, and eventually it's too much and he just mentally snaps and kills the mother, but for whatever reason cant bring himself to kill what he thinks of as a demon child, yet still hates and blames the kid for everything... so he locks the kid in the basement, and the events of the game go from there. It's one possibility, anyway.

Tbh, I expected it from the beginning. The bat was too unrealistic for a child to live through - not being beat over the head with it multiple times, even with video game logic it was just a no no - it was more like something you would fend a wild animal off with, which tipped me off that something wasn't right about the kid. The next major clue, of course, was when he was playing with the rats and made the father say "spawn". That word is usually used in movies about Satan's babies, etc., which suggested more monster allusion. I wonder how our view on it would have changed if the child had killed the mother instead, whether accidentally or during a temper tantrum. TL;DR: I feel like they did a pretty great job hinting that something about the kid wasn't normal.

is it me or his criying and whines of pain are genuinely painful to hear? like, hearing him cry for the cat, or after his dad shot him, it genuinely made my heart break, the developer did a good job with the sounds. Also I really dont like how you become an evil monster after killing the dad, its so unfair. That man was the real monster, he killed his wife, an innocent cat and abused the kid all his life. He deserved to die, before he could hurt other beings. And you kill him only as self defense, as he wants to shoot you. Its unfair that whenever the victim fights back, they've seen as "became the monster".

When Smelly got stuck in the vent, my cat kept staring at the computer like "Mother, where is the cat? Mother where is cat?"

hey does anyone knows what happens if you "punish" the cat the first day or if you dont feed it the second day?
@faceonpaper51114 жыл бұрын
i dont, but i want to know what happens diffrent in ending 2 (violent murdering) if you get all 6 roaches, as the counter popped up only there.
@GGG_gaming4 жыл бұрын
@@faceonpaper5111 i didnt notice that, but i would say if you eat all the roaches you get the pumba and timon end variant where you dont kill any kids and live off bugs (thats a joke btw)

like i assumed punish the cat means you kill it the first day, but seems like the cat plays a large part to your escape, so i dont think the cat dies if you "punish it" or dont feed it

1:07 that seemed so realistic that if i didn’t hear he’s voice earlier i would’ve thought that that was actually from the game itself

Things I wanna know: Can you not spit acid at the living room grater you watched the ABC show on the TV from? Does anything change if you eat the last disgusting meal instead of feeding the cat with it?

You can't eat it.

I found myself flinching every time the father swung the bat. I've been in a slight state of dissociation and only near the end did i realise I've been shutting down and begin crying. I won't say I've been in this kids exact position. but i know what it's like to lose all hope and to know there is nothing you can do while the adults in your life can do whatever they wanted to you and no one would listen or care. I know what it's like to be shunned and beaten and made to feel like i'm a freak not deserving of love. I know what its like to be locked in a small room as punishment. And even though i experienced emotional ,psychological, physical, and sexual abuse as a child i still say abuse is abuse and i don't believe any kind should be okay you grow up scarred from that. But still i appreciate games like this covering such topics especially from the eyes of the victim. It hopefully helps others to understand what some kids go through.
